Have You Filled a Bucket Today: A Guide to Daily Happiness for Kids 30 reviews Carol McCloud
Ferne Press, 2006
Guess what? Kids are not naturally kind! I was sucked into the whole bucket thing because the corresponding program is what my elementary school is doing this year. We have the posters throughout the school, the assemblies, and the books.
Sure, the cynical part of me was perfectly willing to mock this (and yes, we did have a little "don't shoot holes in Mike's bucket!" banter during faculty meeting).
But, when it gets down to it, ...

Chrysanthemum 70 reviews Kevin Henkes
Mulberry Books, 1996
Another Kevin Henkes Miracle! Adorable as ever :) I'm thinking I might use this for my children's lit paper, hey, why not? Love it just as much as I loved it when I read it years ago. The illustrations are still great (and snarky!), and the writing's just perfect, capturing the imaginations of both young and old. It's truly a tale of individuality for the ages.

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day 174 reviews Judith Viorst
Aladdin, 1987
It Was Fun, Bad Day Or Not I've seen some of the other reviews and how this book is too negative. I liked it! Things don't always so as planned, but this book offers a refreshing and funny way to introduce that concept to your child. The pictures are great and the message is clear that despite everything being topsy-turvy, it'll be allright and we'll make it through. I recommend this book. Another book I like and read ...

1-2-3 Magic: Effective Discipline for Children 2-12 (123 Magic) 277 reviews Thomas W. Phelan
Parentmagic, Inc., 2004
Best Purchase I Have Made In a Long Time This book was so helpful and amazing. I was definitely skeptical in trying it out with my rambunctous 2.5 year old. He is extremely active and LOVES to do the opposite of everything I say! It worked like "Magic" and now we are both enjoying eachother's company much more!

tear jerker Try reading this for the first time while pregnant and see a psychiatrist if it doesn't bring tears to your eyes. This is a good story to help anyone of any age to better understand life.

Hal Leonard Guitar Method, Complete Edition: Books & CD's 1, 2 and 3 75 reviews Will Schmid, Greg Koch
Hal Leonard Corporation, 2002
Great book After about 5 days of practicing chords with the DVD that came with my acoustic guitar, I've been able to start playing actual songs after just one day with this book. It helps that I already know how to read music, but I do think that this book is really helpful. Combined with other learning by demonstration DVDs, I feel like I'm already able to accomplish more than just learning a few chords.

The Important Book 38 reviews Margaret Wise Brown

Great Book to Start the Year I read this book to my students and then used the predictable format to create a class book highlighting the important thing about each student. The students seemed to enjoy the story quite a bit.

One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish (I Can Read It All by Myself) 130 reviews Dr. Seuss, Theodor Seuss Geisel
Random House Books for Young Readers, 1960
Something Fishy to Me!!! Super Book, as are all Dr. Seuss books! Book was new and as described. Fast shipping...rec'd in 4 days. It would be nice though if Amazon didn't set the shipping rates so the sellers could use media mail for their books to make it cheaper for the purchaser! If they didn't charge the flat $3.99 rate, it would make purchasing more affordable and one could do it more often! I'll buy from this ...

Harrington on Hold 'em Expert Strategy for No Limit Tournaments, Vol. 1: Strategic Play 228 reviews Dan Harrington, Bill Robertie
Two Plus Two Pub., 2004
Best book(s) in tournament poker I think Harrington's book and it's sequels are the best books ever written about no limit hold'em tournaments. The first part of the series covers strategic concepts about tournament poker, the second part tells how to play in the ending of a tournament, and third part is the workbook for reviewing the concepts of first two books.
Before reading this book (and the sequels), I have been mostly ...

The Cat in the Hat 175 reviews Dr. Seuss
Random House Books for Young Readers, 1957
The book that influenced our culture! Times have changed. Little kids left home alone and shouldn't they have been told by their parents not to let anyone in?
This is the book that must of led to a lot of wild house parties and may have spawned many party while your parents are away flicks (Risky Business, etc).
A good fun read with a lilting cadence!

Raw Food Made Easy For 1 or 2 People 110 reviews Jennifer Cornbleet
Book Publishing Company (TN), 2005
Great starter book - not pretentious, just delicious I love this book! I was attracted to the simplicity of preparation and the nutritional benefits of raw foods. I noticed that "raw food" was some kind of concept or entity a few months ago and was immediately fascinated - no dealing with a hot oven or stove, no heavy greasy pans, delicious ways to eat more vegetables and get more nutrients, no worries about heat destroying nutrients, and NO POTS ...

Learning American Sign Language: Levels I & II--Beginning & Intermediate (2nd Edition) 17 reviews Tom L. Humphries, Carol A. Padden
Pearson Education, Inc., 2004
I use it as a supliment in intermediate class As a sign language instructor, I do not use this book for my beginning ASL Class. I use "A Basic Course in American Sign Language". After students complete the beginning course and move into the intermediate class I use "Learning American Sign Language" as a review which ultimately takes them into the intermediate level. Neither book should be used without an instructor. I also use the DVD ...
