Kill the Competition12 reviews
Stephanie Bond

Avon, 2003

Kill The Competition... Gotta Love It!!
This is the first, but not the last, Stephanie Bond novel I have read. This was witty, funny, sexy, and one heck of a good mystery. Belinda Hennessey is starting over in Atlanta. While car pooling with some friends from work she runs into a hunk of a policeman. The banter between the friends while car pooling is humorous. The people at Belinda's Company start dying, is there a serial killer ...

Face the Fire (Three Sisters Island Trilogy)174 reviews
Nora Roberts

Jove, 2002

Nora Roberts Face the Fire
Its been a long time since I've enjoyed a trilogy as much as I have the Three Sister's Island books. The third book finished out the story of these wonderfully different women and their special talents. It was so much fun to read all three that I hated to see it end. I could read this trilogy again. Something I don't do often. If your going to read one, plan on reading all three. You won't want ...

Imperium: A Novel of Ancient Rome90 reviews
Robert Harris

Simon & Schuster, 2006

`It is in the nature of things that all politicians can achieve greatness.'
This is a novel about Cicero, told from the perspective of his amanuensis, Tiro. Starting in 79 BC and finishing in 64 BC, Mr Harris writes a powerful novel that portrays historical events and people in republican Rome while bringing both the times and the characters to life. The life of Marcus Tullius Cicero (approximately 106 to 43 BC) essentially coincided with the decline and fall of the ...

Mac OS X: The Missing Manual, Panther Edition31 reviews
David Pogue

Pogue Press, 2003

Bilingual
I'm becoming bilingual--I'm learning to speak Apple as well as Windows. I just got a new iMac G5. Apple basically tells you to learn the system by pushing all the buttons to see what they do. Yeah, right. I also have the XP Missing Manual. This is a good series, a lot better than the Dummie series, if you really are a dummie. The organization is good and there is a lot of information, starting ...

TExES (103) Bilingual Generalist, EC-4 (REA) - The Best Test Prep (Best Test Preperation & Review Course)3 reviews
Luis A. Rosado

Research & Education Association, 2006

Good Review OK study guide
I found this book to be an affordable and useful review for the Bil. Generalist Exam. In fact, it had a lot more information than I needed when I took the exam but I didn't mind because it was a good refresher. I took the practice test then studied the book approximately 4 hrs/day for two weeks before I took the practice test again. This was my only study guide and I am happy to say that I ...

Women for President: Media Bias in Eight Campaigns
Erika Falk

University of Illinois Press, 2007

When Hillary Clinton announced her 2008 bid for president she was the Democratic front-runner. Despite this, she received less coverage than Barack Obama, who trailed her in the polls. Such a disparity is indicative of the gender bias the media has demonstrated in covering women candidates since the first woman ran for America?s highest office in 1872. Tracing the campaigns of eight women who ran for president through 2004--Victoria Woodhull, ...

He provides suggestions and opportunities to personalize their list. Chain of Evidence22 reviews
Ridley Pearson

Hyperion, 1997

Good Book, gladly recommended.
I didn't like the prologue of this book. When I had first started reading it reminded me of a Jerry Springer show. So I dropped it to read something more interesting. Two months later, when I was consumed by boredom, almost to the brink of insanity. I picked the book up. The first part is, eh... kind of boring. The the investigation and the methods involved are real enough. His relationships ...

Whole Lotta Trouble9 reviews
Stephanie Bond

Avon, 2004

Fun and complelling!
I'm usually a 5 to 10-pages a night reader, but on this book I read more than 100 pages each night and had to force myself to turn off the light. This was an extremely well crafted mystery. The dual heroines were likeable; there was a nice romance; and the intrigue never let up. You can bet I'll be reading more of Stephanie Bond's romantic suspense.
