PHTLS Prehospital Trauma Life Support (Phtls: Basic & Advanced Prehospital Trauma Life Support)14 reviews
NAEMT

Mosby/JEMS, 2006

Excellent upgrade from the 5th edition.
PHTLS 6th edition, had numerous upgrades from the last edition. This book was very informative of the new procedures we are seeing in prehospital care. It was written for paramedic level of procedure, but was still written to be understood by an EMT-B. The DVD was excellent example of the hands on procedures, unlike the 5th editions CD. A must read for the emergency care personnel.

Real Analysis: A First Course (2nd Edition)6 reviews
Russell Gordon

Addison Wesley, 2001

Fantastic introduction to analysis
I am using another author's --Strichartz-- garbage text for an analysis course at Cornell. I saw this book at a local B&N near my home, and I immediately saw how superior it was to Strichartz's. This book keeps the beginner of analysis in mind, and the proofs of theorems are sharp and to the point. Plenty of exercises and problems to reinforce the material. The text includes a nice ...

Avanti: Beginning Italian Student Edition with Bind-in passcode
Janice Aski, Diane Musumeci

McGraw-Hill Humanities/Social Sciences/Languages, 2006

This uniquely effective new introductory Italian language program meets the needs of instructors as well as learners. Three significant characteristics set Avanti! apart from other beginning Italian texts currently available: First, in response to instructors’ concern that most textbooks attempt to cover too much material in the first year, Avanti! reflects reasonable expectations for the amount of material that most beginning ...

First Course in Mathematical Modeling2 reviews
Frank R. Giordano, William P. Fox, ...

Brooks Cole, 2008

The Text for Mathematical Models of Reality
From discrete to continuous modelling, with many proyects and examples, I like very spacially this book for the undergraduate level. The presentation is very clear, but rigurous, making experience the reader through the models. It focuses on the interpretation and ends with some tools for modelbuilding. For a start of mathematical model understanding of reality this book is specially good, clear ...

PREGO! : visually-stimulating 7th edition has online learning center
PREGO! is an excellent and very popular classroom introductory Italian program, here in its 7th incarnation. Lazzarino and coauthors have created a beautiful, easy-on-the eyes layout with interesting cultural readings, charming illustrations, and cute (topic related) cartoons. It's great to see different ethnicities represented in the illustrations (a trend that many publishers seem to be ...

Differential Equations With Applications and Historical Notes8 reviews
George F Simmons

McGraw-Hill Science/Engineering/Math, 1991

Excellent!!!
Each mathematic's book has its particularities. I had said before the Tanembaum book was the one better than I had on differential equations, considering its easiness reading , its methodology and its organization, but evidently these three elements can be present in many other books. This is the case of the present book, which I consider excellent. This is a great book, a very well achieved ...

Advanced First Aid Afloat1 review
Peter F., M.D. Eastman, John M. Levinson

Cornell Maritime Press, 2000

Excellent book that can easily save your life
I'm very happy to be the first reviewer of this, but a little suprised since it means there are a lot of sailors who don't know what's in this great book. Levinson and Eastman (both physicians and active sailors) did a great job laying out serious medical problems in a way that even I can understand them. Also, they give readable scenarios that help put these accidents in context. A good ...
