2nd Chance (The Women's Murder Club)255 reviews
James Patterson

Grand Central Publishing, 2005

Another Winner
James Patterson has done it again. This sequel is fast paced easy to read and I could not put the book down. I love the Women's Murder Club and the characters to me are believable. These women have problems of their own and that is woven brilliantly into the story. If you like true to life crime stories with women in charge than this is a must book to read.

Algebra and Trigonometry- 2nd Edition (with Video Skillbuilder CD-ROM )3 reviews
James Stewart, Lothar Redlin, ...

Brooks Cole, 2006

Great book
This math book helped me get into calculus without much of a mathematical background. I messed around in high school too much :p. For three months I intensely studied this book - I nearly answered all the question. I bought the answer guide to help me see what I was doing wrong. The book is easy to read and understand; all the steps are explained in an orderly manner. If you get stuck, try ...

Effective Java (2nd Edition) (The Java Series)12 reviews
Joshua Bloch

Prentice Hall PTR, 2008

Simply a great book!
Effective Java, Second Edition by Joshua Bloch is certainly the best Java book I have read in a long time. As a disclaimer, I never read the first edition and I am thus unable to compare the two editions. Effective Java, Second Edition is a mostly easy and fun read providing you with many insights and best practices on how to use Java effectively. It certainly is not a book for the beginner just ...

Testing Computer Software, 2nd Edition36 reviews
Cem Kaner, Jack Falk, ...

Wiley, 1999

QA Must Have Tool
The QA department where I work already has one of these books, which I actually read cover to cover a ways back. I decided to get one for myself to keep as a handy reference when I am not physically on the job, but thinking of it and planning out my testing. This is a must have for anyone in or interested in the QA/Software Testing field.

Study Guide for Essential Biology with Physiology, 2nd Edition3 reviews
Neil A. Campbell, Jane B. Reece, ...

Benjamin Cummings, 2006

wonderful book
I used this book to homeschool my 13 year old daughter, who went on to obtain a 750 on the SAT II Biology. I also taught a class to homeschoolers using THE WAY LIFE WORKS (much cheaper) as the main text, but using many of the CD-ROM activites from ESSENTIAL BIOLOGY as class material. I especially liked the MendAliens for genetics problems! There are many useful activites, quizzes, and chapter ...

Player's Handbook (AD&D 2nd Ed Fantasy Roleplaying)116 reviews
David Zeb Cook

TSR Inc., 1995

oooohhh yeah
I bought the third Ed and wished I could have used the pages to wipe my backside. Second Edition is classic, the best and the final edition of true AD&D playing. Save your 3rd ed money and buy a good used copy of second Ed and keep them sparkling new. The end of a true Era in imaginative gaming.

Traditions and Encounters Volume 1, 2nd Edition1 review
Bentley

McGraw Hill Higher Education, 2005

Not bad
This is probably the most useful history book I've ever read. It was interesting and easy to comprehend. The other students with whom I spoke agree that as far as history books go, this is one of the best. My only complaint is that, in my personal opinion, there is a lack of maps. Not exactly a huge deal, but sometimes maps make it easier to picture things in the past.

Mathematical Reasoning: Writing and Proof (2nd Edition)2 reviews
Ted Sundstrom

Prentice Hall, 2006

Very Helpful
This book was very helpful. I have a better understanding of how to construct a proof and what proofs are best in each situation. The book also gave plenty of examples of proofs of theorems so you had something to compare your proof too. It also give some answers and hints to selected problems in the back which were a great help.

Integrated Chinese Level 1 PT. 1, Character Workbook, Trad. and Simp., 2nd Edition21 reviews
Tao-Chung Yao

Cheng & Tsui, 2004

the CHARACTER workbook is excellent
It appears that most of the reviewers were writing about the TEXTbook, not the character workbook. I gave the textbook four stars in a separate review and the accompanying CDs are a must. I purchased the textbook, a workbook, and the character workbook for 2 classes I attended at the Northwest China Council offices in Portland, Oregon. The characters are presented in very large type, and the ...

The Original Summer Bridge Activities: 2nd to 3rd Grade9 reviews
Julia Ann Hobbs, Carla Fisher

Rainbow Bridge Publishing (UT), 2006

Great Summer Learning Books
My husband and I get workbooks for our kids every summer and these are by far the best ones we have gotten. There is a page (front and back) for each day and every day includes some type of math skill, and reading or english skills. There is enough work to help keep the kids in practice but not so much that they feel overwhelmed. The book reviews what they learned in the grade they just ...
