Well Written, Enjoyable Book On Investing and Retirement!
I came across this book after thinking about retiring at age 51. It had good reviews so I thought why not. At that time there was none in stock and I had to wait at least 4 weeks to get a hold of a copy. It was definitely worth the wait! I found it to be very encouraging and sensible. There is a lot to this book that will benefit anybody thinking about retirement now or in the future. Even if ...

Thank God for the 1930's and 1940's/
First of all, the Library Of America collection provides the reader with some of the most beautiful hardcover editions available today. That said, the selections chosesn for this edition are all first class; for someone just getting into hard-boiled fiction, this is the ideal place to start. If you're like me and have been reading this genre for many years, this is a perfect volume to add to ...

Small Dolls of the 40s and 50s by Carol J. Stover
As a longtime doll collector, I have often found 8-inch hard plastic dolls that I could not identify. Some of the dolls were even mint with original clothes. I always passed them by thinking that I would never be able to learn about the companies that made them. This "Small Dolls" book will go a long way to answer these kinds of questions. The author has written a great book with lots of ...

We need more good reading like this!
I grew up in a small town, but I married a boy from Brooklyn who went to St. Vincent Ferrer. For 40+ years I have heard the stories of that life and those times, and it was a thrill to have it all documented is such a charming and factual manner. Bert Kemp put on paper what my husband has told me through the years.

Sheet music of 100 great songs of the 20's 30's and 40's
IF you are over sixty, you must have this book. It has all the great songs that you grew up with like Deep Purple, Star Dust, Thanks for the Memory, Sophisticated Lady, and You're nobody til somebody loves you, and 94 others. This are wonderful melodies about love and life from a bygone era. Some of the early scores lack the chord notations that I find helpful when I play the piano. But they ...

A high-quality book!
This is a really great book, I love it! If you want to know everything about the '40s, including swing, WWII, the clothes, movies, and culture, then buy this book! With short vignettes, interviews, collages, and articles, this book is very complete, fun, and educational (don't worry, in a good way!). It can be used as a textbook, as a reference book, or just something fun that suits your ...

If you ever doubted that the United States almost single-handedly saved the world during World War II, this book will settle the question. A reminder to wear your selt belt!
As a vintage car enthusiast, looking at all the crumpled old cars shown in "Crash!" that were once beautiful sculptures is fascinating though a bit unsettling. Some photos leave the viewer wondering how the car could have been twisted that way or left positioned so strangely. Fortunately, information on some crashes was available to the author. The book is a quick read and is at the very least a ...

Just think about it - what are the movies you enjoy watching over and over again? "Casablanca" will probably top most lists. Which movie does your family gather to watch each holiday season? The feel-good "It's A Wonderful Life," of course. "Citizen Kane" is probably in the running for one of your all-time favorites, as is "Gilda" with an unforgettable performance by Rita Hayworth.
