Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Harry Potter)2601 reviews
J. K. Rowling, 2008

The series truly begins.
I love Prisoner of Azkaban. I think that this was the novel that really hooked me into the series. I have a hard time writing a literary review of any of the Rowling novels mainly because I do not feel like I'm reading a novel when I read these books, I feel like I'm on vacation. I'm transported into another world and forget to look at the subtext or deeply analyze anything that the writer is ...

Excellent!
I love this book, but lost it, so I had to order another one. I have the complete set now, and have to read them at least once a year or so. IT is a great start to the Harry Potter series. Thank you.

Jack Canfield

A great gift!
I bought this book as a gift for my 16yr old niece. The very next day, she told me how much she loved the book. She even cried reading it. I think it's nice to find reading materials that can move the minds and feelings of teenagers.

Modern Classic for Young Adult Fantasy Readers
A tale of growing up and acceptance with a strong female lead who shows, without being ultra feminist, that girls can accomplish anything that boys can.

The House of the Scorpion299 reviews
Nancy Farmer

Atheneum/Richard Jackson Books, 2002

Amazing book for even the most conservative readers
This book is simply amazing--fluidly well told, with none of the typical "coming of age" tawdry sexualization, no offensive language, just an interesting take on contemporary issues. The realistic characters and well-paced story make this book worthy of all the awards it garnered. Buy your kid this book--then read it yourself!

Wonderful Story
I read this before I read the other series (Song of the Lioness)so I really had no background info on the setting. The plot is intriguing and the details back it worthwhile.

I don't remember the last book I enjoyed this much
I need the book-equivalent of methadone to wean myself off the the genius that is Lonesome Dove.

Mattimeo213 reviews
Brian Jacques, 2008

EXCELLENT! 10/10!
This is either the best or the second best Redwall book. It's the direct sequel to the Original Redwall, so there will be a lot of familier characters. Complete with 3 huge battles, a cruel monster that lurks in the dark, and an evil slaver named Slager, this book is ultimate, and I highly reccomend it!

The Neverending Story265 reviews
Michael Ende

Topeka Bindery, 1999

Beautiful Edition
Many reviewers have already given a synopsis of this fantastic story of a boy literally drawn into a book he is reading. So, I wanted to comment on this particular edition. I was hesitant to spend so much money on a book that has been in print for so long and is readily available in cheap paperback copies. However, this is a beautiful hardcover edition. Collectible quality. The dust ...

The Dark Is Rising Sequence: Silver on the Tree; The Grey King; Greenwitch; The Dark Is Rising; and Over Sea, ...203 reviews
Susan Cooper

Simon Pulse, 1993

Wonderful, wonderful series
This series is my son's absolute FAVORITE. He's 8 and I recently decided to introduce him to the books, and he ate them up. He said he likes how the bad people aren't always perfect, and he likes the way the Drew siblings work together in OVER SEA, UNDER STONE and again in GREENWICH and SILVER ON THE TREE. I'm pretty sure that he didn't understand all the symbolism in THE DARK IS RISING, though ...

Matt Groening

Topeka Bindery, 2003

Oddly Comforting!
I found this book so soothing. If you love the Simpsons, you will love this book. You can relive the most hilarious quotes of the series in the most convienient manner possible. No need to search through DVD's to hear Homer say, "It takes two to lie, Marge. One to lie, and one to listen." Instead, you can flip through this book and relive all your favorite moments. I read it over and over ...

Robert M. Snyder

Random House Puzzles & Games, 1991

Will get the next edition in addition to the copy I have
I got this book a couple of years ago and now am chess club presendent at my school chess club in 7th grade. I loaned it out so many times it is getting worn out. When I went to get a copy now I found out it is temporarily not in print because it is going to be made a new edition. I plan to get the new edition for the chess club. What I liked about this book is that it isn't a silly little ...

A Ring of Endless Light (Austin Family)205 reviews
Madeleine L'Engle

Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR), 1980

Loved It!!
I loved this book and I would recommend it to girls from the ages 10 and up. This was a good story to connect to your life or the lives of the people around you. The things that happen to Vicky in A Ring of Endless Light might happen or may have happened to the reader. Therefore the plot of the story is believable. I would like to read another story by this author because I loved how thorough ...

Sadly romantic & beautiful=)
This is my second time reading this book and what can I say, I cried both times..I love it!!! One of the BEST books I've ever read!!!It is probably one of the saddest book out there as well. Don't Die, My Love is about Luke and Julie who had been childhood lovers and now is in high school and has a love bigger than anything..Luke is the football star quarterback and is madly in love with Julie ...

Martin the Warrior (Redwall, Book 6)261 reviews
Brian Jacques

Philomel, 1994

If you like talking animals in your books, don't miss the Redwall series.
I am reading all of the Redwall books in the chronological order, not the order he wrote them in. Martin the Warrior is therefore 2nd. I'd already read Redwall and Mossflower and they remain among my favorites of this series, but Martin the Warrior is just as good. His characters are well-developed, just keep in mind that the intended audience is children. I love the way he creates different ...
