Five-Minute Activities: A Resource Book of Short Activities (Cambridge Handbooks for Language Teachers) 11 reviews Penny Ur, Andrew Wright
Cambridge University Press, 1992
I take exception for its usefulness for EVERY teaching situation... This book has been of limited usefullness for me. I've found only a few activities in here that would be practical for my classes of 40 Korean middle schoolers, but I also believe I'm in a bit of an unusual situation trying to teach English to such big classes. That being said, I did find it useful for, if nothing else, getting my own ideas rolling. I would also like to add that it's rather ...

The Java Tutorial: A Short Course on the Basics, 4th Edition (Java Series) 5 reviews Sharon Zakhour, Scott Hommel, ...
Prentice Hall PTR, 2006
Much more than I expected This book is based on the tutorials available on the Java site, but I found this didn't worry me at all as I read the book.
I have always been impressed with 'The Java Series' of books from Sun and this one ranks well. But while I was prepared to accept a more superficial transfer from the web version, what I got was much nicer. The book includes many important topics that are required to move ...

S5 IS short course review really terrific guide for the s5 is.
i replaced my two S1 IS's just recently with a S5 IS, so i've got a fair amount of experience with this type of camera. but this short course was worth ever penny.
the short course covered quite a few topics that were in the camera manuals, but in a easier to grasp manner. i particularly liked the sections on manual focus, macro and super macro.

Bundt Cake Bliss: Delicious Desserts from Midwest Kitchens 16 reviews Susanna Short
Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2007
Outstanding This is an excellent book. Recipes are 80% from scratch, 20% use box mixes. All are fairly simple and use standard ingredients. They are easy to follow. No pictures, but nice homey descriptions and anecdotes. A nice introduction giving the history of the bundt pan in the USA by the wife of the founder of Nordicware and a basic tips section preface. So far all I have tried have worked great. ...

Saunders, 2005
I enjoy this very much I have learned a lot reading this book. I work in medical records and transcribe dictations and this has really helped me a lot in this area being that I have no medical terminology knowledge at all. I love the CD that comes with it, you can take test over and over on it. It's awesome.

A Short Course in Canon Powershot G9 Photography book/ebook 8 reviews Dennis P Curtin
ShortCourses.com, 2007
A Short Course in Canon PowerShot G9 Photography After reading some of the reviews about this book not being specific enough to the Canon G 9, I decided to see for myself. I am glad I did as I don't see how it could get any more specific. This is a "must have" for any G9 owner. Would have been nice to have it in color and printed on better grade of paper, but the content is the important thing and it is very specific to the G9. Worth every ...

A Short Course in Canon EOS 30D Photography 7 reviews Dennis P. Curtin
ShortCourses.com, 2006
A must have book for the 30D owner One of the best books I ever read - perfectly tailored towards the Canon 30D. I have my 30D a year now, use it on a regular basis and still found some information I was not aware of. Go and get it!
Only thing I have to criticize: Book is printed in black and white not in color - kind of defeats the purpose. So I printed the color version of the book from the DVD and I LOVE it!

A Short Course In Photography 3 reviews Barbara London, Jim Stone
Prentice Hall, 2008
Good, basic photography book, though dated I've been using SLR's & digital cameras since early high school, including use for some publication work. This book gives good, basic information, and would be good for a novice just learning to use a film-type camera. My copy is dated 1979, so it includes nothing about digital photography. The other reviewer referred to Chapter 9 as being nothing more than verse or poetry. That is somewhat ...

Immunology: A Short Course 9 reviews Richard Coico, Geoffrey Sunshine, ...
Wiley-Liss, 2003
Ordering for second time I love this book! I'm a 4th year medical student and I have 3 other texts on immunology and this is the one that I keep going back to. I loaned it to a friend and it burned in a fire so here I am ordering it again. The text is simple and to the point. The diagrams are suitable and I found them detailed enough. This is my bedtime reading book.

A Short Course in the Secret War, 4th Edition 5 reviews Christopher Felix
Madison Books, 2002
A study of principals and a first hand experience. The author divides the book into two parts. The first examines some of the principals governing secret opperations generally. Here he clarifies what secret opperations are, what they are not, and what the language surrounding them means. He describes the rules of the game and how things work. This section is interesting, informative, and fun to read. In the second part of the text the ...

A Short Course in Canon EOS 40D Photography book/ebook 10 reviews Dennis Curtin
ShortCourses.com, 2007
A Short Course in Canon EOS 40D Photography book/ebook The intrinsic value of this book lies in the accompanying PDF ebook. What the book lacks in presentation, the e-book more than makes up vis-a-vis colour, animations and webpage links. Especially great for travellers who do not wish to be burdened with heavy reference books.

Teach Yourself Czech Complete Course Package (Book + 2CDs) (TY: Complete Courses) 8 reviews David Short
McGraw-Hill, 2004
Great comprehensive study of Czech - but be wary - the language is HARD! I've been studying Czech out of this book since July 2006. It's the only comprehensive overview of the Czech language out there, and it's great. The book is very well written and edited. It's very concise and explains everything you need to know about the language in a logical and sequential way. If you are truly devoted to learning the language in depth, this is the book for you. Be aware ...
