GREAT FOR TODAY'S AMERICAN FAMILY
I love this book. The ingredients in all of the recipes are family-oriented and I'm able to buy them at my local supermarket. Best of all, the meals are easy on the budget. This book offers a cooking system to help you plan your family meals or you can pull out recipes that you want to make when you want to make them. There's recipes for Thanksgiving as well as what to do with the leftovers, ...

Very well researched
I am preparing for the birth of my first child. My husband and I are both from academic research backgrounds, and do not give much weight to any "data" which does not have a legitimate scientific source. This book was exactly what I wanted in a birthing book: real facts from someone who knows how to review medical literature. I do not have access to all the medical journals and wanted someone ...

Forewarned
These days, when I go to a doctor for anything more severe than sniffles or a sore throat, I take two things--my list of questions and concerns and a companion. I need all the help I can find to be sure that I ask the right questions and remember the doctor's answers and instructions. As we grow older, it's important to take every health issue seriously. I have two new friends who will be ...

If you ask the average American what the leading cause of mortality in women is, most would probably guess breast cancer. In fact, heart disease is the #1 killer of women, and more women die each year from heart disease than men. Moreover, the symptoms of heart problems in women are very different from those in men, making detection more difficult. In this invaluable and engaging guide to the woman's heart, two leading heart specialists focus ...

Useful for ANY Homeowner--or Renter
Kitty Werner has done something amazing here: she has taken pretty much everything that anyone needs to know before owning or renting a home, and found an easy way to explain fairly technical concepts to people with no technical knowledge. And she manages not to sound patronizing, even when explaining real basic stuff that most of us take for granted--because she doesn't assume you have prior ...

Best Pregnancy Book So Far!
My husband and I are expecting our 3rd baby in November, and have read just about every pregnancy book on the market. This is our favorite for several reasons. First, it emphasises the spiritual aspect of birth. For a woman to partner with God for that one little creation momemt is so spectacular, yet we tend to think of it as more of a medical condition. Having myself refocused on that ...

The information in the book provides a good foundation. However, I found the book annoying to read because each page was broken up with different illustrations and sections that were not conducive for my style of reading.

This book was my pre-surgery bible
I bought this book a week before my hysterectomy and it was SO helpful in thoroughly preparing me for what to expect before and after surgery, down to the smallest details. Although I had made my decision, the chapter on treatment options reassured me that I had covered all my options. The "post-op diet" (to promote nutrition while combating gas and constipation, two prevalent post-surgery ...

This book was very helpful in overcoming my problem. You need to realize that it isn't a straight read but a workbook for you and your partner. It has WONDERFUL relaxation techniques,an anatomy chapter, a question and answer section, a dialator therapy section and specific sections on various disorders. I found it very helpful. A Must for All Female Athletes
Books which honestly deal with the pressures and concerns of female athletes are rare, and this one should be required reading for every active woman from twelve to sixty. There is lots of information out there on how to be thin but far less on how to be fit. Otis and Goldingay are among the very few to acknowledge that they are not one and the same. This is not a book about eating disorders - ...

It's about time....
Thanks to the author, the word MAY get out. I only found out about Testosterone when I got "pre-cancerous lesions". This was about 8 years after I had total hysterectomy.(Removal of ovaries, cervix and uterus)at age 32. During that time, I lost pubic hair (and even head hair), my vagina shrunk so bad I looked like a Barbie Doll and sex/libido was GONE. Then when I got these lesions, GYN ...

Best Pregnancy Bok I Read
I've done a small survey of pregnancy books recently, and this is the winner. As another reviewer said, "If you only buy one, make it this one." I expect to have no problem getting my husband to read this book. It is not cutesy, it is not preachy, it does not read like a conversation with a close friend. It reads like a conversation with the doctor you wish you had -- one who would spend ...

A convicting and hopeful view of God's purpose in marriage.
After three years of marriage, my husband and I (both Christians) had already discussed divorced. I 'accidentally' (in God's providence) stumbled across this CD while perusing Douglas Phillips' website, and I thought it looked like something that would be edifying to me. I cannot accurately put into words the blessing this picture of a biblical marriage has been to me. Phillips does direct some ...

A disappointment
I found this bible study to be a disappointment. Rhonda Kelley pulls out a Scripture verse here and there, and fails to fully develop the understanding of a single passage (example Phillipians 4: 4-9). In Chapter 2 on attributes of God, she never mentions that He is love (!). Granted, she had some worthy things to have her readers think about. But by the time our study reached chapters 9 and ...

4 practical suggestions for encorporating prayer into a busy life
If you can overlook the frou-frou hot pink cover of A BUSY WOMAN'S GUIDE TO PRAYER, you might be pleasantly surprised. Although author Cheri Fuller keeps the tone light, and her illustrations definitely reflect the suburban woman, her concrete ideas for ways to incorporate prayer into a busy life (and what woman thinks she's not busy?) are practical and sound. The disease we're afflicted with ...

Fun little gem...don't take it too seriously...
Entre Nous begins by the author describing the first French girl that she was in contact with. She dressed well, was intelligent, had style, was sensual, and she felt comfortable in her own body. She didn't really gossip, and she kept her secrets until she knew her for many years. The author goes on to tell you how to cook, shop, play, work, and love: like a French girl. There are many tips ...
