Frostbite (Vampire Academy, Book 2)40 reviews
Richelle Mead

Razorbill, 2008

Pretty Good... But Leaves You Wanting More
The second installment in Vampire Academy definitely lives up to the first. It has more action, more suspsense, but sadly not more of Dimitri than usual. Although the romance between lissa nd christian seems intense, i felt like i was left with only slightly more of Dimitri than before. Theres jealousy, sexual tension, and unrequited love all in a single chapter, so its pretty great. But not ...

Monster Madness (Nightmare Academy, No. 2)1 review
Dean Lorey

HarperCollins, 2008

Absolutely Awesome!
Nightmare Academy Monster Madness (book2) was so fast paced and hard to put down. I finished it within a week and I'm really looking forward to reading book 3 when it comes out. I highly recommend this title to anyone that likes their books filled with monsters, action, magic, and twists and turns that keep you guessing what's next. This belongs on every kid's (young and old) holiday wish list.

Scholastic, 2009

Rollicking fun twist after book 1
My son and I discovered this whole series of books when he was a first grader...perfect for him to read as a second grader now. In the spirit of Harry Potter and the Hobbit but not so complex that kid's lose the story line. Full of jokes and adventure, I cannot recommend these any more strongly for the 7 to 10 age group (depending on reading ability). We've had two impressive endorsements: When ...

Funny, Fun and exciting
I'm six and I enjoyed this book. This book was very funny in different types of ways. It was about 3 children who go through adventures in a school for young dragon slayers. It reminds me of how it feels to be a new student. My favorite character is Angus who is always hungry and only hates eel but thats what they are served usually. I also like the pig that speaks pig latin! This is the first in ...

Dark Horse, 2008

I Live For Stuff Like This
I just finished reading "The Umbrella Academy" and I have to say that this comic--and others like it--is one of the many reasons why I'm becoming more of a graphic novel fan. Its originality made me turn the page and I love the fact that Way played up the dysfunctional family angle throughout the entire volume. Because the characters are so complex, they remain interesting by not coming off as ...

Wheel of Misfortune (Dragon Slayers Academy, 7
I just finished reading aloud book 7 of the Dragon Slayer books to my children (10, 9, & 7). We laughed out loud over and over, again. Personally, I was a little disappointed that no dragons were slain in this book but the kids didn't mind in the least. We especially loved Bragwort running around saying "Who?" and Zelnoc wondering why Wiggie would be bragging about his wart. Keep up the ...

Hail! Hail! Camp Dragononka #17: Super Special (Dragon Slayers' Academy)2 reviews
Kate McMullan

Grosset & Dunlap, 2006

a bit different
Most of this series takes places at the dragon slayers academy, and each book while entertaining, is very similar to every other book. They are more like episodes of a cartoon than novels, in my honest opinion. But this book offers sometihng a bit different with its double length and the fact that it takes place at summer camp instead of at the school. If you're worried abotu the length, then ...
