Boynton's Greatest Hits: Volume 1 (Boynton, Sandra. Boynton Board Books.) 48 reviews
Little Simon, 1998
My toddler (22 mos) loves them! My 22 month old toddler loves this set of books. I think it's something about the sounds that Boynton uses. She learns a lot of the books by heart and "reads" them along with me. I would definitely recommend this set for toddlers.

Curious George Curious About Phonics 12 Book Set (Margret and H.a. Rey's Curious George) 1 review H. A. Rey
Houghton Mifflin, 2008
Really great way to introduce reading "painlessly" My preschooler loves the character and the stories. Our daily readings are something he looks forward to and he is retaining the skills, and starting to generalize learned words to other books. I can't give a better endorsement than, he is learning to read with this series.

Alphabet Rescue 6 reviews Audrey Wood, Bruce Wood
The Blue Sky Press, 2006
He LOVES it! My son loves this book and all of the Alphabet books by Audrey Wood. We started reading them together when he was 2 1/2 and the books quickly became his favorites. He has them all memorized and we incorporate "ABC adventures" into stories that we make up for him every night before he goes to sleep. I highly, highly recommend this book and the others by Audrey Wood.

Harold's ABC (Purple Crayon Book) 1 review
HarperTrophy, 1981
Fantasic Alphabet Book for Children This book quite cleverly introduces the alphabet A to Z. Each letter is introduced in order and appears as part of the picture associated with it. Descriptive words use the letter, usually starting with it. Text leading to the next page (and next letter) suggests the next letter by using it at the beginning of some words, too. Very cleverly written. I grew up with "Harold and the Purple ...

Alphabet Adventure 30 reviews Audrey Wood
Blue Sky Press, 2001
My [...] son loves it! My son cannot get enough of this book! We first borrowed it from the library (three consecutive times) and then eventually had to purchase it because he wanted to read it all of the time (I thought other kids should have the opportunity to check it out of the library!). It has really taught him his ABCs in a fun way, and now he has the story practically memorized. Although I like the book I ...

A Is for Adventure (The Backyardigans) 2 reviews Irene Kilpatrick
Simon Spotlight/Nickelodeon, 2007
Interesting Alphabet My son likes this book because the alphabet goes beyond A is for apple and B is for ball. Uses many references from past shows. If not a Backyardigans fan it might be difficult to explain why Y is for Yeti.

Alphabet Animals: A Slide-and-Peek Adventure (Slide-And-Peek Book)
Little Simon, 2008
In this innovative book, animals take the shapes of all the letters in the alphabet! From an alligator to a zebra, each animal represents a different letter?but what could it be? To find the answer, children can pull out the pages to find the letter and the animal's name. This fun format is perfect for children who are learning to grasp the familiarity and phonetics of the alphabet, as the first letter of each animal's name corresponds to the ...

The Wise Enchanter: A Journey Through the Alphabet 4 reviews Shelley Davidow
Bell Pond Books, 2005
Magical children's book Oh, if only there were more kids books like this one. Stunning illustrations, clever and beautiful use of the letters of the alphabet and a captivating story all make this a wonderful read. I enjoyed reading it to my 6 year old almost as much as he enjoyed hearing it. Read it with your younger kids or let your older independent readers enjoy it on their own. I really can't say enough about the ...

Click, Clack, Quackity-Quack: An Alphabetical Adventure 8 reviews Doreen Cronin
Atheneum, 2005
It's an ALPHABET book!!!!!! Please keep this in mind as my son is way past learning his alphabet and this book was a great disappointment. No stories here, just a D for Duck, C for Cow, etc, from A-Z. I was going to give this review 3 stars but I should have paid more attention to the title. For what it is, it's a great book.
As a story book 0 Stars
As an alphabet book 5/5 Stars

Random House Books for Young Readers, 1999
THE ULTIMATE DR. SEUSS BOOK! THIS ONE'S ALL YOU NEED! My daughter absolutely adores this book! It takes all the things that make Dr. Seuss so GREAT without all the long, tongue-twisting stories for parents to read! I PROMISE you will like this AS MUCH or MORE than your child does! There are so many flaps it keeps my daugher entertained for up to 30 minutes at a time--THAT is AMAZING! No other book we own can do that! The first 2 pages are from THE ...

L is for Lobster 3 reviews Cynthia Furlong Reynolds, Jeannie Brett
Sleeping Bear Press, 2001
Not just another alphabet book This delightful book will definitely appeal to young children learning their letters, but perhaps even moreso to people of all ages. Lobster, of course, indicates Maine and so the author takes us through the entire alphabet with animals, places, or ideas associated with that state. On each page is a simple rhyme concerning the word starts with that letter. On the side of the page is more ...

Miss Bindergarten Has a Wild Day In Kindergarten (Miss Bindergarten Books) 4 reviews Joseph Slate
Puffin, 2006
Also a great science book! Miss Bindergarten is back and OH!, what a wild day she is having. "Danny tends his droopy beans, Matty checks a chrysalis, and Jessie drops the bug jar." The kindergartners are growing and learning about the life cycles of plants and butterflies in the midst of one of the most hilariously hectic days the school has ever experienced. The whole "school village" from Mrs. Simpson, the secretary to ...
