A well written, well researched book that clearly explains the need for phonemic awareness in literacy acquisition. Whether you're a parent or teacher this is a "must read". Don't let Byrne's history put you off either - he might be a psychology lecturer, but this is written in such a way that you don't need a psyc background to understand it.
