Use it every day in my outpatient clinic
I don't even think about prescribing antibiotics without referring to sanford's. It's cheap, well organized, current, and easy to carry around. One of the 2 or 3 most used tools I have in my practice.

Quick, easy and you can actually read the print.
A fellow medical student showed me this pocket book and I am glad I bought it. It is very easy to use and the print is readable. The best part of this book is the list of dosing for Peds. I don't have to look up the amount based on the kg of the child; its right there. Highly recommend for those of us who work or do clinical rotations in the out-patient setting.

The best
I had the pocket version and wanted to see if a larger version had more info or is just larger print. Don't get both as they are identical as far as I can tell. The larger one has a ring binding, so you can lay it flat and look at it. Also, for those over 40 the print is bigger. The larger one would fit in an oversize pocket, but mine are too stuffed with other stuff to fit the big version.

The Sanford "Gilbert" Guide
As a family practice resident, I have found Sanford guide indispensible since my very first student wards rotation. Yes, it does take some getting used to, but if you take the time to explore its options and organization you will find it the best antimicrobial guide around. The only two books I carry every single day in my pocket are Sanford guide and Tarascon Pharmacopeia.

As an infectious disease fellow, I recommend that anyone who want be an ID man should have such a book. Most infectious problems and diseases have been detailed in this book, although there are far going of emerging diseases and new antibiotics. The only shortcomes of this book are lackiing comprehensive details and reveiw of antimicrobial therapy for some disease entities.

Nothing new: this is a must for all primary care doctors
Nothing new: this is a must for all primary care doctors. This has long become THE source of guidelines for antimicrobial treaments, yet small enough to fit in a white coat pocket. It is a little bigger and heavier this year. But, what can we say: there are more necessary information. I'd rather have a bigger book than dealing with smaller characters.
