Drugs for Bugs 2003: The Saint-Frances Guide to Outpatient Antimicrobial Therapy4 reviews
Paul D. Baker, Christopher T. Hoey, ...

Lippincott Williams & Wilkins, 2003

Quick, easy and you can actually read the print.
A fellow medical student showed me this pocket book and I am glad I bought it. It is very easy to use and the print is readable. The best part of this book is the list of dosing for Peds. I don't have to look up the amount based on the kg of the child; its right there. Highly recommend for those of us who work or do clinical rotations in the out-patient setting.

Antimicrobial Resistance in Bacteria of Animal Origin1 review

ASM Press, 2005

Antimicrobial Resistance in Bacteria of Animal Origin
This textbook was invaluable to my undergrad research project. I started with very little experience with the subject matter and gained a very firm knowledge base by reading this text. It was comprehensive, but still easy to read. The organization of the chapters was particularly helpful, allowing me to read the sections that pertained the most to my research first. It also presented a broad ...

Antimicrobial Therapy and Vaccines1 review

Williams & Wilkins, 1999

A practical and comprehensive tome on antibiotic selection
This comprehensive textbook was designed for physicians who want an exhaustive review of antibiotic and vaccine selections for specific microorganisms. Its strength is what drugs to use when the standard drug cannot be given. At the current time, there is no textbook that addresses this common clinical situation in everyday medicine. I am the editor.

The Sanford Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy, 2008 (Guide to Antimicrobial Therapy (Sanford))5 reviews
David N., M.D. Gilbert, Robert C., Jr., M.D. Moellering, ...

Antimicrobial Therapy, 2008

The best
I had the pocket version and wanted to see if a larger version had more info or is just larger print. Don't get both as they are identical as far as I can tell. The larger one has a ring binding, so you can lay it flat and look at it. Also, for those over 40 the print is bigger. The larger one would fit in an oversize pocket, but mine are too stuffed with other stuff to fit the big version.

Harriet Lane Handbook and Harriet Lane Handbook of Pediatric Antimicrobial Therapy Package2 reviews
Johns Hopkins Hospital, Jason W. Custer, ...

Mosby, 2008

Harriet Lane Handbook of Pediatrics
This classic handbook is even available together as a package for $64,95 and indeed a good bargain with a lot of knowledge and hands-on practical advice. The handbook is available as print, but also with online access for the same price. The Harriet Lane Handbook started in 1953, when six residents without funds or supervision from their superiors met around a table in the library of the ...

Not only does it fit in your pocket quite easily, it is a great help to have. As a pharmacy student, I must have the answers at the tips of my fingers if they aren't on the tip of my tongue. Antimicrobial Therapy, 2003

The Sanford "Gilbert" Guide
As a family practice resident, I have found Sanford guide indispensible since my very first student wards rotation. Yes, it does take some getting used to, but if you take the time to explore its options and organization you will find it the best antimicrobial guide around. The only two books I carry every single day in my pocket are Sanford guide and Tarascon Pharmacopeia.

Mandell

Churchill Livingstone, 1995

The book you need
As an infectious disease fellow, I recommend that anyone who want be an ID man should have such a book. Most infectious problems and diseases have been detailed in this book, although there are far going of emerging diseases and new antibiotics. The only shortcomes of this book are lackiing comprehensive details and reveiw of antimicrobial therapy for some disease entities.

David N. Gilbert

Antimicrobial Therapy, 2009

Nothing new: this is a must for all primary care doctors
Nothing new: this is a must for all primary care doctors. This has long become THE source of guidelines for antimicrobial treaments, yet small enough to fit in a white coat pocket. It is a little bigger and heavier this year. But, what can we say: there are more necessary information. I'd rather have a bigger book than dealing with smaller characters.
