La Ciudad de Mexico Desde Arriba3 reviews
Robert Cameron, Herb Lingl's

Cameron & Company, 2004

Excellent overview of an underated metropolis!
All of Robert Cameron's books are wonderful, but this one about Mexico City is my favorite. For one thing, I'm from Latin America and while I'm not Mexican, Mexico City is one of those places I have great admiration and respect. Its ancient history, vibrant culture, prosperity, architecture, in short everything about this metropolis I love dearly. Robert Cameron's book brings this metropolis into ...

the Happy Remodelers: Remodeling Can Be a Happy Experience1 review
Ignacio Arribas, Nitsa Lallas

ArtisPress, 2007

Easy read, solid ideas
A good solid read. This book will help you save time, money, your marriage and much of the well-known frustration that goes along with building or remodeling. It even tackles budgeting in a down-to-earth way. You'll find something for left-brainers, something for right-brainers and lots of first-person examples that bring the ideas to life in practical situations.

Abuelitos: Stories of the Rio Puerco Valley1 review

Univ of New Mexico Pr, 1992

worth reading
I live in New Mexico. This book is fun and interesting, a very accurate portrayal of Hispanos, I think. It's in both real dialogue Spanish and has a good English translation. That was the best part. Mr. Garcia has contributed to American history and anthropology in an important way.

Georg C. Bertsch

Ernst,Wilhelm & Sohn,Verlag fur Architektur und Technische Wissenschaften Gmbh.,Germany, 1992

Shining Example of Late 80s Spanish Interior Design [Spanish & English Text]
From Back Cover: "Alfredo Arribas constitutes the most spectacular phenomena of the late 80s Spanish interior design. Interested in the aesthetic and also environmental integrity of his extremely careful schemes, he cannot therefore treat the design of objects and furniture with disdain... Fully half this book is made up of near photo quality full color full page plates showing synagogue details. Next best thing to a trip to Toledo in excellent resolution and color! If you are going to visit Toledo, and see these in person, this book won't get in the way; in fact if you have it ...

Albertina Anda Arriba/ Albertina Goes Up: El Abecedario/ an Alphabet Book1 review
Nancy Maria Grande Tabor

Topeka Bindery, 1993

Simple, engaging pictures, cute examples, facinate 9 mo. old
This was a surprise hit with our (then) 8-month-old. Still a favorite at one year. (He turns the pages, I read.) The pictures are very simple but engaging. The example sentences are loaded with the letter being demonstrated- ("Tomas toma te.") and each page includes additional vocabulary ("Can you find..."). He will gladly page through "Albertina..." when he hasn't the patience for "Dr. Seuss's ...

Mirando pa' Arriba en mi Viejo San Juan5 reviews
Billy Ramirez-Castellano

Billy Ramirez-Castellano, 2005

Art in the Sky
In life one has many ideas and few become a reality, I see this as one of those that transformed into a wonderful book. This book shows extreme creativity and a fabulous composition of images with a comprehensive research of architectural details. I was fascinated by those details we take for granted as we walk down the street of this historic city of Old San Juan. Through this book we gain a new ...

Patas Arriba. la Escuela Del Mundo Al Reves2 reviews
Eduardo Galeano

Siglo XXI, 1998

Excelente, revelador, crítico
Eduardo Galeano se caracteriza por su gran forma de escribir tan lúcida y fundamentada. Este libro no es diferente. Aquí nuevamente se demuestra la gran capacidad investigativa de Eduardo Galeano y su gran visión crítica a través de su inconfundible prosa con un toque irónico pero que dislumbra una dramática realidad. El libro tiene una serie de recuadros y notas que son muy útiles para la ...

!Arriba! A First Course1 review
Eduardo Zayas-Bazan

Prentice Hall, 1995

An excellent text book for the beginning Spanish speaker
I used this book in a college Spanish course and found it to be excellent. It is at the beginning level and would be suitable for anyone that wants to learn the language. Every chapter has a thorough vocabulary list, with topics in the chapter reinforcing the vocabulary. Many pictures will assist visual learners. In addition, an appendix of common verbs and their conjugations in all forms ...

¡Arriba! Comunicacin y cultura (4th Edition) (Arriba)7 reviews
Eduardo Zayas-Bazán, Susan M. Bacon

Prentice Hall, 2004

Great for what it is - a college textbook!
I used this book in my college-level Spanish class. I think it is well-written, informative, and logically put together. My concern regarding some of the other reviews is that this book is not meant to teach someone Spanish without the course it is meant for. There are books out there for that purpose, but they are not textbooks. I have taken three (3) other intro to Spanish classes and I have ...

Hacia Arriba1 review
Lene Gammelgaard

Mondadori (IT), 2000

EVEREST AS A TROPHY MOUNTAIN...
This is yet another perspective of the 1996 Everest tragedy by a survivor of the fiasco. Written in journal style, the author at times frames her thoughts in a staccato, stream of consciousness, rambling fashion, coupled with new age psycho babble. At other times, she intones in a pseudo profound way about Everest. The author comes off as a silly, vapid individual. It is interesting to note that ...

Rebellion in Rio Arriba, 18371 review
Janet Lecompte

University of New Mexico Press, 1985

An Important Book
Rio Arriba, meaning New Mexico north of Santa Fe, one of the poorest areas in the United States revolted against foreign rule in 1837, 1847 and 1967. The 1837 rebellion is interesting because it casts light on the causes of the Texas Rebellion and the Mexican American War. In 1835, Santa Anna appointed himself dictator of Mexico and abolished the constitution. His new government consolidated ...

Greener Pasture on Your Side of the Fence: Better Farming Voisin Management-Intensive Grazing (4th Edition)7 reviews
Bill Murphy

Arriba Pub, 1998

Has what it takes!
I'm reading this book for the third time - there's just too much info to digest in one reading. We are just starting with cattle and are using this book as our bible. It not only explains the many advantages of raising animals using managment intensive grazing (more profit, environmentally friendly, humane, better nutrition, ease of animal handling), it goes into great detail on HOW to do it. ...
