MOM of a 4-month old baby with cleft of the soft palate
I'm a Mom of a 4-month old baby with a cleft. I also have a M.S. in speech-pathology. (What are the odds?) :) I found this book to be really helpful, because while I attended one of the leading institutions for graduate school, we only had 1 class on Craniofacial Disorders, most of which focused on diagnosis and not on how to do therapy with people with cleft. If you're a therapist reading ...

A Classic in the Field, Highly Recommened!
Some years ago, I developed an interest in voice and diction. I had noticed how well-spoken many actors were, and then later I noticed that successful people in general tended to be well spoken. The opposite also held true, I noticed even college educated individuals with poor speaking habits. I took voice and diction lessons from a local teacher, and then moved on to the classic book in ...

Review of Eliciting sounds
I love the revision of this book. It is organized very well, and has a number of suggestions to help teach both very easy and the more difficult sounds to those with articulation challenges. Every SLP should own this book!

Saved my job!
This book was a miracle for me! Everything he said in the book was true, all the things I have been told about my voice. I felt like I was reading my life story. Yes, he spent some time talking about the establishment, but only when some of the advise did not make sense. I have already recommended this book or any other book from Dr Cooper to my friends, coworkers and family. He honestly saved ...

Great CDs for Practicing Diction
My speech was getting sloppy--wasn't enunciating clearly & my mouth felt lazy. So I bought this book & CD set. I play the CDs in my car while commuting to & from work, & I find they are wonderful. The exercises involve repeating words that are grouped by vowel & consonant sounds, then progressing to repeating phrases, then to repeating sentences. The pace is fast (so you don't lose interest), the ...

Good quality reproductions
Nice coffee table book for sure. Inspirational for geometric abstract artists, even vector artists and illustrators. Great for color fans, obviously, as Albers was one of the color masters. Would not pay full price.

This text has become the guide and standard that other authors are using in updating their books on the same subject! Crannell's analysis and exercises for accent reduction have been especially helpful to me in my work with international clients. The additional material on voice and presentation is of great value for everyone looking to improve their oral skills. The format of the book ...

More of a Broad Overview than a Lesson
I bought this tape expecting the "listen and learn" method of better speech that was promised. There are only two short exercises given in the 2 tapes, the rest is general information; some of which is unecessary, such as interview tips and how to keep your vocal chords healthy. I wish they would have taken more time to give concrete help.

Adequate, but nothing special
I used this text as an undergraduate, and later when teaching the Phonological and Articulation Disorders course as a TA, so I have gotten to know it well. Strengths: - Information on structural anomalies and their impact on articulation - Emphasis on the difference between phonological and articulation disorders - Description of several treatment approaches and which disorder to use them ...

Fantastic!
One of the difficulties in learning how to use your voice properly is that you cannot see what happens physically. This book explains and illustrates as accurately as ever the way the vocal chords and the whole vocal apparatus work. The cd is full of very helpful examples for men and women to cover all needs and ranges. Simply Fantastic!

Get to Know Your Instrument
Animals of all different kinds busy themselves with making noises in order to feed or mate or protect themselves. Humans are no different, but have taken the use of their anatomical noisemaking devices to extreme utility. Of course, this is tied to our use of language, and language is full of puzzling aspects, but so is the human voice when considered as an instrument or tool rather than just ...

A well thought inquiry on the history of latin american cinema
The texts selected by the editor offer a historical perspective of the New Latin American Cinema. I was pleased to revisit some relevant manifestos of Glauber Rocha, Fernando Birri and Fernando Solanas. And the papers were carefully chosen, in order to convey a historical background as well as an aesthetic critique of the New Cinema. Unfortunately, the texts stop in the early nineties. Therefore, ...

These nine sounds typically are the last acquired by English speaking children, and are the sounds most likely to challenge school-aged students and non-native English speakers, both children and adults. It fill the need for a ...
