Phenomenal
My grandfather sent this book to me and I confess that when I first saw it, I wasn't sure it was anything I wanted to read. Emotional healing? What could *I* possibly need to be healed from? Denial is an amazing thing. Thankfully, I had nothing else to read at the moment and picked up this book. From page 1, I was captured by Meyer's ability to share her story, make light of her struggle, and ...

Fantastic Companion
I have owned numerous copies of this book; lent them out never to see them again. With most books, I don't bother to repurchase them, however I find myself wanting to pick this book up every couple of months to read either a random story or spend a couple hours with it from cover to cover. If you are looking for a dissertation on zen or buddhism, this might be a bit of a ho-hum read (as other ...

Pleasantly surprised
I am not a Christian so when a friend told me the premise of this book and urged me to read it I was hesitant. Luckily, I was finally convienced and was pleasantly surprised. Sacred Ashes is a fantasy thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat till the very end. The twist and turns in this story were so surprising and shocking that I felt compelled to reread the book when I finished it for ...

Enjoyable As Always
I was excited when I finally got this book and I had made to make time to read it the whole way through. Just like the parent Blood series and the first two of this series, it lives up to expectations and makes me want another book to come out for this series. Even in the Blood series books, I liked Tony and wished he had more print time. Well, these are just as good and just as enjoyable.

Another forgotten genius of early scifi
There are several absolutely wonderful writers of classic SF that are nearly forgotten today. Unfortunately, Fredric Brown is one of them. Whether it's his short fiction, as in this book, or his wonderful novels, including "What Mad Universe", all of his stuff is wonderful and well worth reading. Brown, Henry Kuttner, CM Cornbluth, Richard Matheson, so many others. All of them created the SF ...

Healing Wise
Wise Woman Herbal: Healing Wise looks at health and healing from a completely different perspective than any other resource I've ever consulted. Instead of looking at illness as something needing medication (as in western scientific medicine) or as the result of some sort of bodily imbalance (as in traditional eastern medicine), this book looks at illness as an opportunity. At first, I have ...

It should have been a happy day in Ballyknockanor. Joseph Burke and Kate Donovan were finally getting married. But the rejoicing turned to sorrow when the groom was arrested at the reception for his part in the recent Irish repeal movement. Unknown to Joseph and Kate, this is part of a larger scheme by neighbor Colonel Mahon in an attempt to take over their lands. As he plots and schemes, ...

Memorial Day
I read this book by chance, yesterday, Memorial Day 2003. Been crying. It's like Schindler's List or Sophie's choice. How could they do it? How can we let them continue doing it? The animals still are around us, although using another names, another symbols, another motivations. I kept reading, hoping to find some of the people to be safe at the end, but almost everybody was killed. Binim, Rozak, ...

A superbly worked story
"The insanity of war has robbed me of everything I knew and loved." These are the words of Filip Stitchko, a Pole, a concentration camp kapo, an overseer, a policeman in Auschwitz. And, by the time the reader has reached the end of Filip's story in Ashes To The Vistula by Bill Copeland, those words emerge with poignancy, irony and inescapable truth intermingled. Ashes To The Vistula, at first ...

Elisabeth Kaye is an excellent writer and the story is even better!
This book was a cliffhanger the entire way through. I could not put it down because the drama, intrigue, suspense, and romance kept beckoning me to read on. I had felt that this book was 9-11 meets The Godfather, meets a romance. But this book had more. The depth to which this story was written is amazing. Through the entire story you get to know each character in every detail. By the end of ...
