Exceeded all of my expectations...
I've been questioning relgion for quite some time, but never really labeled myself as an atheist. This book is intended as a specific rebuttal to the creative design 'science' promoted by religiously influenced schools. Not only does it wonderfully refute creative design with solid scientific arguements, it also points out many contradictions within the bible on various topics.

This is the one...
...book I always recommend to those who are seeking the truth about what faith/belief systems are true. There is only one reason to believe in anything - because something is true. If atheism is true, we all need to be atheists, but if Christianity is true, then we all need to be Christians. This book systematically walks a person through all the various choices and provides solid, reasonable, ...

The Quotable Atheist
Ammunition for Nonbelievers is a great discription for this collection of short quotes and quips. If you've ever been tired of or have gotten a bit "out of sorts" with bible thumpers, door knockers, phone ringers, and pseuedo soul savers, who have that "in your face" attitude, here's your book of "comebacks". Be forewarned that you are sure to be labeled as a hell-bound sacrilege by any religious ...

Not So Portable Yet Extraordinary
This book is a nice collection of essays, letters and excerpts from other writings from a number of different non-believing and freethinking authors throughout history. The introduction by Hitchens does a nice (and poignant as always) job at framing the chronologically arranged collection of pieces. Along with contemporary writers such as Richard Dawkins, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennet and Salman ...

Atheist Manifesto
I had for a long time believed that god's & religions were an invention of man. This publication was a terrific aid in discovering what I needed to decide that I was a humanist, a polite label for an atheist. You too will enjoy this book if you are looking for proof of what cannot be found in any bible.

The religion book of the decade
Pretty much all of the one-star reviews here came from people who did not read the book. In this book, Hedges completely debunks the illusion that atheism is a system with "no beliefs and no ideology." The fact that most people cannot recognize the ideology of atheism is exactly why it is so dangerous. Atheism is not simply a statement that one's life philosophy does not include the ...

Thoughts from one who has been on both sides of the fence
John W. Loftus has written an important book that should be read by every Christian who cares about truth and reality. This is not the angry rant of some disgruntled former believer with an axe to grind. Loftus is thorough, fair and convincing. As a former Christian minister and apologist who became an atheist, he knows both sides of the belief question very well. The insights and detailed ...

A Great Source of Wisdom and Insight
I really enjoyed this book for what it is, a collection of quotes and thoughts from famous atheists and other writers (not all of the quotes reflect the authors true feelings and beliefs as some were taken from works of fiction). I ordered this for my Kindle and read it the first time in only two days. Then I reread it slowly, this time saving the quotes with the Kindle's built in notes ...

Christian Pastor Gives Thumbs Up
The Little Book of Atheist Spirituality by Andre Comte-Sponville A Review by TCDavis In Yann Martel's provocative novel, The Life of Pi, , a young East Indian boy tells the rabbi, imam, and pastor of his small home town that he is a Jew, a Muslim, and a Christian--all three at once! They are nonplussed, and cannot abide this most peculiar faith; but their rejection of Pi's universalism ...

Sizzling Debate, But You'll Need Your Thinking Cap!
William Lane Craig is one of my favorite Christian apologists. But he has his hands full in this debate over the existence of God. Walter Sinnott-Armstrong vigorously challenges Craig's five arguments for the existence of God, and he also gives three of his own arguments for atheism. Craig's strongest moments were his arguments for the causation of the universe and the fine tuning of this said ...

A must for anyone looking for a novel on religion with a twist.
If we believe in God, then what does God believe in? "God is an Atheist: A Novella for Those who Have Run out of Time" is a unique and offbeat story of a homosexual affair between Richard Dawkins and the pope, Islamic extremists hunting down the Christian deity, the family issues of Buddha, and other bizarre events. Sure to enthrall (and possibly perplex) readers, "God is an Atheist" is a must ...

A wonderful book on evolution for young children!
"Tree of Life" is a educational storybook, which tells the story of biological evolution from before the first form of life appeared, to the appearance of the first humans, and all in words even a preschooler can understand. My three year old only had a few questions the first time I read it, and it is now one of his favorites. The large, beautiful purple and white illustrations also make it ...

Finally, a refreshing dialogue...
between two mature and well educated men. We will not all agree on the existance of man or our purpose in life BUT, we do all need to live in the same world. I think we should take these two men's example. Instead of trying to get our own points of view heard, let's start listening... then we will be able to really have an open, honest, respectful dialogue. Quick, easy and thought provoking ...

Understanding how an atheist could change his mind
I have heard Antony Flew's name many times over the years, because every time that I would read about a Christian apologist, it seemed that Antony Flew's name would come up as his atheist antagonist. So you can imagine my surprise when I opened my newspaper in December 2004 and read the news that Antony Flew had changed his mind and decided that he DID believe in God. What a Christmas gift to the ...

Very Well Researched and Argued
Vox really nails Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens and other militant atheists to the wall! His arguments are really well thought out and researched. Vox exposes the hidden agenda behind militant atheism and reveals these atheist authors for the rabid Anti-Christians that they are. He debunks their claims that they are writing in the interest of defending science, when they are really driven by a hatred ...

Terrific primer for this magnificent outlook on the world. If you hope the best for your child ... and if by 'best' you mean to make them a thinking contributing human INDIVIDUAL (not an automoton who simply mimics a design of your own making) I could not more highly recommend this fine book.
A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and Atheists: Musings on Why God Is Good and Faith Isn't Evil
David G. Myers

, 2008
A Friendly Letter to Skeptics and Atheists helps readers—both secular and religious—appreciate their common ground. For those whose thinking has moved from the religious thesis to the skeptical antithesis (or vice versa), Myers offers pointers to a science-respecting Christian synthesis. He shows how skeptics and people of faith can share a commitment to reason, evidence, and critical thinking, while also embracing a faith that ...

If you are looking for a reason not to believe in Jesus, then this is the book for you. The Atheist's Introduction to the New Testament is an advance over other Bible contradiction books in two ways. Instead of just giving a laundry ...
