Found it to be quite informative
I am not sure why the other reviewers had problems with this book. I actually found it to be quite easy to read and understandble in its explanations of terminology. I work for a software company which sells a budgeting tool. Since realigning over to our public sector division, I decided to buy this book in order to hone my governmental accounting skills. My accounting degree certainly helped ...

gives depth to your appreciation of history
This little text is a good accompaniment to the main book, "Making of the West". Here, Lualdi takes the student in a tour of excerpts from original source documents. Translated where necessary from other languages. So you can see a lengthy essay written on the eve of the French Revolution. Asking, "What is the Third Estate?" This Estate was the impotent assembly that represented the French ...

Good Value
Hunt's "The Making of the West" concise edition is a good value. Coming in at under $40 used, it is easily $20 cheaper than the competition... and it's worth the money. The good: Like the price, this textbook has some things going for it. Unlike larger, wider and weightier "doorstop" textbooks, its "regular book size" and weight fit easily in a backpack, under your arm, or when reading in ...

Great O-Chem Book!
This book clearly teaches one how to do organic chemistry. I got an A in Organic Chemistry, but if I didn't have this book I would have failed. This book explains everything the professor didn't. It has a great study guide solutions manual, which gives details to the answers of all the problems.

A very interesting textbook about labor economics
I was a teaching assistant in a labor economics undergraduate course in Northwestern University that used this book. I found it very interesting and full of real-world examples and discussions. The mathematical level is simple and therefore the book is accessible also to students with only little background in mathematics or economics. The exposition is clear. About half of the problems and the ...

As an Undergraduate reading this..
When I read this. I'm like what? Just reading the first 10 pages of the beginning I get this confusion. This book is just a bunch of facts stuffed together. In one paragraph you can see different dates jumping around. First it's 1640 then the next setence it goes back to 1590s. What is it saying? Too bad I have to use this book for my class, otherwise I would not recommend it as a reference or ...

A fascinating and illuminating book
This is a fascinating history of Western civilization that goes beyond the customary emphasis on kings and battles to looking also at changes in the culture and ideas of people over the centuries. It's so enjoyable that it is bedside reading for me, though still very authoritative. The many illustrations, often of period art, add to its appeal. It will tremendously broaden your ...

Brilliant and much needed
This will sound like a strange thing to say about a book on building, but I've been moved to tears reading this. One might think that the authors of such a book would be Luddites proposing a return to savagery or some such, but this is not the case. What they propose, beautifully, is a return to sanity and perspective. The subtitle of this book, "A Practical and Philosophical Guide..." is dead ...

Practical Magic!
This book is the best resource out there, and is currently being used at the local university. I am an education major and my campus uses this edition as well. There are many helpful bulleted lists for quick reference while in the classroom. Several supply freebies are printed up just waiting to Xeroxed st your convenience. Still, the best features are it's ease of reading and application of ...

Excellent!
Wonderfully detailed line drawings to color. Each has an historical note and date. My only caveat is that felt pens bleed through the paper so crayon or pencils only.

Outstanding pocket guide
Scut monkey drug reference is way more useful and helpful than tarascon pocket pharm. It includes method of action, SE's, and more. Imagine that, a pocket pharm guide with side effects! Who would ever need that information? (tarascon doesn't include side effects....or method of action.) I carry it in my white coat pocket even though I have PDA software because, inevitably, before the ...

Little pig, little pig, let me in
This manual was a good tool while dissecting my pig. The pictures were in color and showed great detail. The only set back is that there are no directions for the actual dissection. Also recommend: Anatomy & Dissection of the fetal pig. By: Walker, W.F. (5th Ed)

Prescription for Improving Your Advertising
If you are as tired as I am of being bombarded with advertisements and marketing that all say the same thing, and in the process, really says nothing, then this book is a revelation. Just as bad is dealing with sales reps who all say the same thing. As a consumer (personal and business), I'm constantly looking for ways in which a product/service can be distinguished. I want to buy on value ...

Stained glass coloring book
This is such a fun colouring book. I keep it at my desk and colour a page each time I need a break from thinking too hard. It's small, and each design allows for unique combinations of colours. I love using markers on it, because the colours come out so vibrant and vivid. This is easy enough for kids but fun and intriguing for adults, too. Paper is see-through vellum so that light penetrates ...
