Excellent, updated learning material for Intermediate/ advanced Intermediate level
We are using this text in class. The Material is relevant, with enough depth and breadth. the CD's that came with the text and the exercise book (2 different CD's) are a joy to listen to. I play them in my car, saying a long as best I can. The speech seems to be normal conversation speed. This is intended for the advanced-Intermediate learner. Would be excellent as a text in class as well ...

Learn Japanese
This book has been a guide for me through my studies of Japanese. The pictures are very colorful and helpful. The makers of this book have made up characters through which help to make the dialogue parts more intresting and comphrensable. Also through a mixture of english and hiragana, it is easy to understand while challenging you to learn hiragana at the same time. I highly recommend this book ...

Excellent relevant up-to-date lessons with CD
CD that came with this book and a different CD for the work book are both well made. Some language CD can drone-on-and-on. This is fun to listen to. The speaking speed seems to be normal conversation speed (not slowed-down for beginners), for this is Book 3 in the series. I play the CD's in the car, over and over, if I did not get what they are saying the 1st time I let the CD continue, I ...

Want extra exercises? This is the one.
Do you own or plan to buy the "Japanese for Busy People I: Revised 3rd Edition" either in romanized or kana version? If you do, this is a pretty good choice if you want to do more exercises along with the lessons learned from the "Japanese for Busy People I". This workbook only provides more dialogue and listening exercises. Do not expect to see any grammar tips, culture notes, or even kana. If ...

Well designed book, but don't think it's going to be easy to learn this language if you are a normal person. It's as good a way to study as you are likely to find, but you are going to need some other support from a native speaker.

Much better than the last version
First: The romanized version of this book is designed to get people speaking and understanding the spoken language in the shortest amount of time possible. In that context, having a romanized version of the text makes sense. Second: This latest incarnation of the Japanese for Busy People series, is in my opinion, a great improvement over the previous version. I live and work in Japan, and ...

Good Complement to the Workbook
To pronounce Japanese well, it is important to repeatedly hear a native speaker. These tapes re-enforce the workbook lessons. JFBP is a great series that really benefits from the multiple components. e.g. 1 The book 2 The CDs for the book 3 The workbook 4 The tapes for the workbook 5 The video Each component re-enforces the other. While I really like this series, you will need to ...

The Best Series for learning Japanese
I am what I would call an 'advanced beginner'. I have taken several 3 month trips to Japan and even more two week vacations and speak enough to get around. Depsite this, there are gaps in my learning since I have not studied any one book on my own all the way through. A friend and I decided to study together once a week using this book (at his recommendation). It is the best book I have ever ...

Excellent for Building Solid Foundation on Your Japanese Language!
Some people may be confused this is the Kana version of the "Japanese for Busy People I: Workbook". In fact, this is a kana exercise book. It helps you to learn and practice writing Hiragana and Katakana. And yes, the materials can also help you to prepare your next book, the revised 3rd edition "Japanese for Busy People I: Kana version". If you have the "Japanese for Busy People I: Romanized ...

Must Read
This is one of the best books on judo for the serious student or accomplished instructor. Most books on judo offer good information on applying competition techniques and certainly have their place. What is lacking in many of those books, however, is the fundamental philosophies and principles Jigoro Kano envisioned as the basis of this art and, ultimately, where in life it should lead its ...

Great, especially when used with other JfBP books!
I took a course using this book, amongst the regular reading book. I now have the CDs as well, and combined they are a VERY useful tool! This workbook is designed to back up the main book, and while still usable without the other book, I think someone who is trying to learn Japanese on their own would find it more beneficial to use both together. In this book, some of the picture's meanings in ...

JAPANESE FOR BUSY PEOPLE I & II
Very good learning tools. The material is clear and concise with relevant conversation topics. The hiragana, katakana, and kanji excercises are awesome. I have actually used the majority of the vocabulary and sentence patterns in everyday situations in Japan.

If you are only going to get one Japanese text, get this one
I discovered this book when it was used in a beginning Japanese language course at the local county college. I travel back and forth to Japan a lot and missed classes sometimes. I had the book with me most of the time, and almost everyone I talk to in Japan recognizes the book as a popular text for teaching Japanese to foreigners. What I like most about the book is that I didn't have any ...

I think that the Japanese for young people series is a very great series. I am learning Japanese and I really like these books. They are not just normal textbooks, with word after word after word. Best Way to learn to speak and read Japanese.
I started with this book in the series and now I'm on the third book about half way finished. I've noticed my speaking, reading, and comprehension has improved immeasurably. It's the most effective grammar book I've found to date. In response to the complaint about not enough Kanji and the other of no information about Japanese History, one if you want to learn kanji I recommend Tuttle Kanji ...

Excellent, but unusable without the tape.
I originally bought this book alone, to "fill the gaps" after the excellent Heisig's and learn the Katakana (Heisig's part on hiragana is excellent, but the part on Katakana is just bad), only to realize that it was really not meant to be used without the accompanying tape. The book and the tape should really be sold as a single bundled package. All that being said, the book is excellent. Get the ...

Great Text--not perfect, but great
After spending about 2 months researching texts to buy, I decided on this one. After reading all the reviews (that killed my eyes) and looking up courses at a few different universities, I chose this over the Genki series. Basically, JfBP was $40 cheaper than the other. I live in Taiwan and so could not get the Genki book otherwise. But I am extremely pleased with JfBP. It's clear, there are ...
