Lonely Planet: Rome City Guide1 review
Duncan Garwood, Abigail Hole

Lonely Planet, 2008

Disappointing guide
This guide is, sadly to say, disappointing considering it is a Lonely Planet publication. In planning my next trip to Rome, I thought that this might be a great book to work from, but I found it to be poorly organized and overcrowded. The authors of this book crammed way too much information into this book that it borders on unusable. There are also very few photos and what photos are provided ...

Best of Rome (Best Of)
Abigail Hole

Lonely Planet, 2006

Contemporary Rome more than stands up to its past. In Best of Rome, our resident author reveals a city bubbling over with festivals, food markets, street parties, open-air opera, jazz, hip hop and salsa clubs, all making use of the city?s unfeasibly beautiful setting. As the saying goes, ?Roma, non basta una vita? (for Rome, a lifetime is not enough). Living History ? stroll among Imperial ruins, Renaissance refinement and baroque bombast ...

The best of the Great Britain travel books that I have read!
In planning a trip to Great Britain, I have purchased three travel books: Lonely Planet, Eyewitness and Frommer's. I would rank them in that order as far as helpfulness in planning our trip. Here are my reasons: I have found Lonely Planet's sections on "where to sleep" and "where to eat" are much more extensive, informative and include a wider variety in price ranges than the other two books. ...

Rajasthan, Delhi & Agra (Regional Guide)4 reviews

Lonely Planet, 2005

If You're Going you Better have a good guide- and this is the best.
If you're doing the 'typical' first time trip to India - the Golden Triangle - this is all you need - no reason to have a full guide to India since the south is completely different from the north - carrying a full guide to India if you're just going to Delhi, The Taj Mahal, and say Jaipur, is like carrying a guide to to Poland for a trip to France - I guess that's why Lonely Planet decided to ...

Lonely Planet, 2008

you can trust this guide 100%
We got this new Lonely Planet guide just in time for our 2 week vacation last May and I can assure you : we extensively visited the Salento region, the beautiful Valle d'Ittre with the fairytale-like 'trulli' and Basilicata Matera with its 'sassi' and always we had full and correct information about what to see, where to eat, visiting hours, etc. This guide together with Michelin map n°564 is ...

Lonely Planet Wales3 reviews

The only only-Wales guide? An excellent one!
Lonely Planet Guides are for "advanced" travellers, but this one is usable and very fine even for those of us who aren't in that category. It also seems to be the sole "Wales only" guidebook now available, so for those who plan to travel only in Wales and want detailed information about places, history, transportation etc. it is excellent. Although these days even the un-advanced can plan a ...

Tunisia Travel Preparations
Not too many detailed travel books for travellers to Tunisia - a hidden gem in North Africa. Have not been there in decades, but am planning a trip with three other girlfriends next year and I was so happy that Lonely Planet had a new 'Bible' on Tunisia. They have done their usual super job with it's Tunisia 2007 Edition. We want to avoid travelling there with a group tour and with LP one can ...
