The Crowley Tarot: The Handbook to the Cards17 reviews
Akron, Hajo Banzhaf, ...

U.S. Games Systems, 1995

Deeper than a parking lot puddle ...
This was my first tarot manual 15 years ago, and it is not your typical tarot cookbook. Crowley and Lady Freida Harris' cards are challenging and multi-layered, and a book attempting to interpret their dense symbolism requires a certain amount of depth. The layout of 'The Handbook' is well-organized & consistent. It teaches basic tarot spreads, gives information on tarot symbolism and ...

Beginnings - A Collection of Appetizers Present By the Junior League of Akron5 reviews
The Junior League of Akron

Junior League of Akron, Inc., 1999

Easy & Appealing
As an avid collector of cookbooks, it's great to have one book solely devoted to appetizers. Rather than sorting through numerous books for recipes, Beginnings makes it easy to find ones just right for the event. The recipes range from easy to just a bit more special, but none are beyond the reach of the average cook. Strongly flavored by the midwest, this is a great book for anyone's ...

Hollis Sigler: Paintings, Drawings and Prints 1976-19861 review
Barbara Tannenbaum, Akron Art Museum

Akron Art Museum, 1986

Hollis Sigler
I love this book. Wish I could afford to buy the actual artwork other than a poster. Saw an exhibit at Women's Museum in Washington and was very moved by her work. I have given this book as gifts to others that are or have relatives facing the challenges of cancer. Hollis Sigler's work exudes a strong sense of empathy, as if one is not alone in all the questions and thoughts.

Milk and Eggs: The American Revival of Tempera Painting, 1930-1950

University of Washington Press, 2002

Tempera was a primary medium for artistic expression in Europe in the 14th and 15th centuries. Milk and Eggs examines the American re-emergence of tempera painting in the mid-20th century. It experienced a renaissance in the work of a large number of mostly unconnected American artists, including Thomas Hart Benton, Paul Cadmus, Jacob Lawrence, and Andrew Wyeth among others. Milk and Eggs focuses on four centers where tempera painting was ...
