Redemption Ark (Revelation Space) 42 reviews Alastair Reynolds
Ace, 2004
Worthy 3rd Book in 4-Book Series Mr. Reynolds has done quite a good job with this book: the backdrop of the Conjoiners, the history glimpses between the Earth of today and 500 years of the "future" plus a very realistic portrayal of space combat.
The last 150 pages really flies, full of action and resolution.
What I particularly enjoyed was how this book actually could stand on its own in many ways, and was not the ...

A thousand years after Khan's death, Yellow Dog is the codename of a female spy working for a vast Mongol-dominated galactic empire. Diamond Dogs, Turquoise Days (Revelation Space) 25 reviews Alastair Reynolds
Ace, 2005
And a dark and dangerous read... This is a fine example of the new british gothic space opera genre, you don't need to be familiar with his larger future history relating to the Revelation Space universe to enjoy these two stories... but it would only serve to enhance your enjoyment if you did (if for no other reason than to place these events in their proper timeline context). These are comfortably self contained novellas ...

House of Suns (Gollancz) 10 reviews Alastair Reynolds
Gollancz, 2008
Classic Renyolds space opera. Superb! First off, let my just say that any fan of Reynolds will love this book. This is what makes A.R. so special. Its vast scale and huge timespan combined with a clear and interesting vision about the evolution of human societies over time. And its all presented in a good pace and with a interesting story, with characters you will care about. In short, its never boring. Quite the contrary. As with ...

Amazing tales need decent conclusions The Revelation Space novels take you to an epic universe of pure Space odyssey. Reading these novels brings the sensation of being far away, in a different time... And not wanting to return to reality before you know all answers. Magic keeps ...

Pushing Ice 52 reviews Alastair Reynolds
Ace Hardcover, 2006
Next in a long line of wonderful Reynolds space operas... I must admit that I worried after the wonders of Revelation Space, Redemption Ark, and Absolution Gap that Pushing Ice would be just another novel riding off of the author's original fame. I was greatly happy to find that this was not the case.
Pushing Ice is the story of a crew sent in desperation to follow a rouge planet as far as their fuel could take them. But everything they have been ...

REVELATION SPACE 146 reviews ALASTAIR REYNOLDS
GOLLANCZ, 2000
A Science Fiction master piece! From the first get-go, Alastair Reynolds propels the reader into an intriguing narrative that somersaults through relativistic space and time. A first acquaintance with Daniel Sylveste takes place on a remote planet called Resurgam, at the site of a dig. The scene illumines Sylveste's feverish mission to shed light on how, and why, something wiped the ancient avian species of the Amarantin from ...

Zima Blue and Other Stories 8 reviews Alastair Reynolds
Night Shade Books, 2006
WOW!!! My first real exposure to Reynolds work... and it blew me away... I've been looking in vain for this guys style for years! Solid and deft writing, a furious blend of neo-brit gothic space opera and hard science fiction. High concept, real brain rattling imagery all tucked in and around a darkly compelling future history. Picture a darker Larry Niven, a more tech Arthur Clarke... and I only use ...

Century Rain (Revelation Space) 34 reviews Alastair Reynolds
Ace, 2006
Toujours Paris I've never read anything quite like Alistair Reynolds's astonishing "Century Rain." A noir whodunnit that turns into a spy chase that turns into a space opera of epic proportions, it's set several centuries from now, where the Earth has suffered some sort of biological castrophe instigated by the law of unintended consequences. It features two competing human factions, the Threshers (essentially ...
