Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry Prepared for the Supreme Council of ... 6 reviews Albert Pike
Charleston Southern Jurisdiction, 1919
a fine work This book is well known to Masons, especially Scottish Rite Masons, since Brother Pike was the driving force behind developing the Scottish Rite, if that accolade can be pinned to one person. As a Scottish Rite Mason, I bought a 1929 hardback edition partly for its historic and sentimental value, and I don't regret it. Be cautioned, however, that this is no easy read. In addition to being a ...

Meaning of Masonry 2 reviews Albert Pike
Kessinger Publishing, 1997
Quintessence of Masonry Without a doubt, one of the best books that explains what the world of Freemasonry is about. This is a must have for anyone, Mason or non-Mason, that would like to learn of the philosophy of Masonry. In a world where there is a lot of knee-jerk reaction to Freemasonry and its so called 'evils', this book comes out from the past and shows Masonry for it's true colors, "morality founded in ...

Liturgies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 1 review Albert Pike
Kessinger Publishing, LLC, 1993
A Monument of Esoterica Pike's works in general have fallen on bad times: even many Masons today are not intellectually prepared to read and understand Pike's works, whether Morals & Dogma or this fundamental one of the Liturgies of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. Masons who do not know their own craft are not able to defend it properly. As a scholar on Esoterica, having published on classical literature and ...

Reprints of Old Rituals 1 review Albert Pike
Kessinger Publishing, 1997
This is the good stuff. With so many lodges/chapters/commanderies/valleys changing or adapting ritual to make it more interesting or less time consuming, degree candidates are more beholden than ever to the brothers who confer their degrees. What changes were made? What's been left out? Has the ritual been adapted faithfully? This book will answer those questions. The price isn't bad considering that Masonic books tend ...

Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 1 review Albert Pike
L. H. Jenkins, Inc., 1945
down the Pike! Every Scottish Rite mason should be required to read this book because it talks about the philosophy of what mason's stand for. It is at times a daunting task due to Pike's writing style but he is nothing less than brilliant which can be overshadowed by his bombast and narcissism. A good read for those of you into history and philosophy but by no means a quick or easy read.

Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite 1 review Albert Pike
Kessinger Publishing, 2008
Who would have thought? I bought this book because I have just read the highly recommendable novel 'Journey to Eden' by Max Pucher. It is full of references to Freemasonry and I am astonished that so much of it seems to be true and not just creative invention. 'Morals and Dogma' is quite a surprise. I guess that most see Masonry as purely a charitable concept like me, but that is not all when you read what the founder ...

Indo-Aryan Deities And Worship - As Contained In The Rig Veda 2 reviews Albert Pike
Fork. Press, 2007
I actually read the book - and loved it! Unlike the previous reviewer, I actually read Mr. Pike's book and was impressed with it from page 1 to page 650. This is a monumental work which Pike in his brilliance declares is "...a study, and not as a teaching - for myself and not for others." Pike relies upon several translations of the Rig Veda by other authors, but his considerable knowledge of Sanksrit and the content of the vedic works ...

Lectures on Masonic Symbolism and A Second Lecture on Symbolism or the Omkara and other Ineffable Words 1 review Albert Pike
bnpublishing.com, 2005
Hard to read I have no problems with the content. It is the print that is hard to read. This book is a reprint form one of onlu a hundred copies. This is great except for the fact that the copy this was reprinted from must have been worn out.
I thumbed thru it when I first got this book and noticed many unreadable pages. The text on several dozen pages has a horizontal break throughout the text. It looks ...

Hymns to the Gods and Other Poems 1 review Albert Pike
Kessinger Publishing, 1942
Heavy poetry; tedious, but with many rewards This work features hymns which Pike authored to ancient pagan gods and goddesses such as Ares, Hermes, Apollo, Demeter and Hera. The style is, of course, Victorian, which makes the poetry seem very heavy and at first inaccessible. However, in the right mindset one can derive much of value from Pike's treatments. His hymns are reminiscent of the ancient Orphic and Homeric hymns, and were certainly ...

MORALS and DOGMA of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry 19 reviews Albert Pike
NuVision Publications, 2004
There's a mystery here I first looked Albert Pike up on the Internet, because my friend, Andrew, told me that as the founder of the Ku Klux Klan, he was the most evil American. Many sources claim that Pike espoused slavery in 1857 while practicing law in Arkansas. And it's easy to find references to him all over the Internet saying that he worshipped Lucifer and had demonic intentions of bringing the world under the ...
