Who Said Boo?: A Lift-the-Flap Book5 reviews
Phyllis Root

Little Simon, 2005

Daughter loves it!
We got this book as a gift and it is one of my daughter's favorites. She is now three but we started reading it when she was nearly two. The illustrations are very cute and the text is fun and easy to read aloud. My daughter enjoys lifting the flaps and has memorized the text. My seven year old also enjoys listening to this book.

What's In The Box? (Ana's Mini Movers)2 reviews
Richard Powell

Tiger Tales, 2004

Fragile but a favorite
I'm re-buying this book for my one-year-old because she loves it so much. As the previous reviewer mentioned, it's easy for an enthusiastic toddler to rip the tabs from the pages. It's definitely a book to read with a parent "helping." My daughter adores this style of tab because it's easy to pull (she could do it at nine months). The illustrations are appealing and whimsical. There IS a ...

Whose Hat Is That? (Ana's Mini Movers)1 review
Richard Powell

Tiger Tales, 2004

Perfect for toddlers
My 16 month old son adores this book - the pages are thick enough that he won't rip/damage them, the pull out slots are simple enough for him to manipulate and the story is short and simple. I get a kick out of his responses to each page (ie when the donkey is revealed, he says "HI-ya" - his version of "Hee Haw").

Brand New Readers sets really work!
These sets contain 10 books that each tell a very short story with a funny ending through repetition. Illustrations are done well, characters are memorable. Child feels a sense of accomplishment as the set contains a chart with stickers for each book completed, a certificate of completion and a "BLANK" book for the child to author/illustrate their own book. Set also contains a parent guide. Our ...

Ibaby: On the Go (Ibaby)1 review
Jan Jugran

Innovative Kids, 2007

Expected better
My son LOVES Goodnight, Baby - a similar book from ibaby, so I saw this and ordered it hoping it would be comparable. It does have the same physical components - pictures on strings that get placed where they belong - but the text is terrible. Each set of pages has only one, very simple sentence. I make up sound effects and additional text, which he likes, but I was disappointed by the book.

The Big Wide-mouthed Frog2 reviews
Ana Martin Larranaga

Walker Books Ltd, 2003

one of the most fun to read aloud
My two year old squeals in delight when I read this tale of a pushy frog who asks too many questions. It's a great opportunity for an imaginative adult to try out different voices for the various animals. (I suggest a Foghorn Leghorn style voice for the frog.) Again, Daddy!

So, during the day (when he is supposed to be sleeping) Woo sneaks out of the house into the daylight and gets into a whole mess of trouble. The Big Wide-Mouthed Frog4 reviews

Candlewick, 1999

A great read-aloud book
This is a simple, no-frills book, but is great for reading aloud to pre-schoolers. The active dialogue between the frog and the various animals, is ideal for young children, with their typically short-attention spans. The book also introduces rather unusual animals to children, such as the possum and the emu. In short, a hilarious book, with an interesting twist at the end, and great value for ...

Easter, Easter Almost Here!1 review
Kathleen Long Bostrom

Zonderkidz, 2005

Young children's board book
"Easter, Easter, Almost Here!" is a small board book that looks at Jesus' entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Nice illustrations, rhyming words, and pages that are easy to wipe clean make "Easter, Easter, Almost Here!" a recommended board book for the very young.

If You See a Tiger (If You See)4 reviews
Richard Powell

Treehouse Children's Books Ltd, 1997

Big Flap Foot Stomping Fun
This interactive children's book is great fun! It encourages you and your child to "stamp your feet," "smile," "whisper," "laugh," or "shout out boo," depending on who you find behind the flaps. The pictures are bright and attractive, featuring safari themes that include an elephant, giraffe, crocodile, kangaroo, and tiger. The flaps are big for little hands to pull back. Great fun for ...
