Great Book for Curious Kids
My husband and I have been reading this book over and over to our 5 year old. I don't think she understands everything, but she loves it anyway. The explanations are clear and simple without condescending.

Books that combine beautifully written prose with wonderful characterisation, atmosphere and a story that wont let you go, are rare indeed. This is just such a book. If you read nothing else this year, you should read this.
