Big Book of Things to Spot
This is a super book for a child age 3 and up. It keeps them busy and learning for quite a while. It includes the 1001 Animals to Spot, 1001 Things to Spot on the Farm, 1001 Things to Spot in the Town, and the 1001 Things to Spot Long Ago. They learn names of different animals and things and there are a lot of things that you can talk to them about in this book. It's beautifully illustrated, ...

1001 Things to Spot in Fairyland (1001 Things to Spot)5 reviews
Gillian Doherty, Anna Milbourne

Usborne Books, 2006

great book for little fairy fans
This book is wonderful for early readers or non readers. There is very little text on each page, just a title and lots of pictures. I bought this for my daughter because she likes fairies and search and find books keep my children busy for quite some time. The great thing about this book, though, is that it allows non-readers to work independently. The number is right next to the item they ...

Anna Milbourne and Cathy Shimmen

Usborne Books, 2005

Great book

1001 Animals to Spot5 reviews
Ruth Brocklehurst, Susannah Owen

E.D.C. Publishing, 2002

Great search book
I disagree with the "baby-preschool" description of this book. I think it's a little too busy for babies, and I also think children in the early grades would really enjoy finding the animals on each page. (I used to teach fourth grade, and I think this would even enthrall a lot of early-mid elementary aged kids as well.) Every page shows a different setting, and it gives a number of how many ...

1001 Things to Spot in the Sea3 reviews
Katie Daynes

Usborne Books, 2003

Great material to stimulate young minds
This book contains some of the best material to stimulate young minds. It will challenge their sight and memory as they look over these excellent illustrations in search of the objects in the list. While their scanners are active, the children will also learn a bit of the science of the sea, as they are required to identify objects found in and hear the oceans of the world. The images are: ...

On a Pirate Ship (Usborne Picture Books) (Usborne Picture Books)1 review
Anna Milbourne

Usborne Publishing Ltd, 2007

My twin sons love it!
My twin sons are 5 years old, and they love the book. They demand that this book be read before bedtime every night, and they act out each scene time and time again. The story line is clear and straight-forward, and the words are simple enough for them to recognize (at least some). The illustrations are vivid and brightly colored. My sons imagine themselves being the boy standing next to the ...

Childrens Encyclopedia: The Usborne Internet-Linked (First Encyclopedias)3 reviews
Felicity Brooks, Fiona Chandler, ...

Usborne Books, 2004

Great Resourse for a younger child
I have been homeschooling my 5 year old using the Usbourne Children's Encyclopedia. Great intro to social studies and geography. I just use one page at a time and make up a list of questions that I use afterwards to see if he remembers and if not we discuss the topic such as how are rainbows made again until he understands. Great for his attention span at this age. After this book, I plan to ...

1001 Things to Spot in the Town (1001 Things to Spot)2 reviews
Anna Milbourne

E.D.C. Publishing, 2001

Great details!
This book is full of fantastic little details -kids can spend hours searching for items in each scene, much like 'Where in the World is Wally', but with loads more to find. Many of the scenes have been very well researched, such as the villages in West Africa and Alaska. And at the end of the book, there are some souvenirs and travel photos that send the reader back to find things they didn't ...

Snowy Day (Picture Books)2 reviews
Anna Milbourne

Usborne Books, 2005

Wonderful pictures and book!
I bought this book so that I had something winter-timeish to read to my 2 year old. It's excellent. She asks for it again and again. Milbourne even describes how snow forms at an appropriate age-level and in an appropriate way. It is a very good book and I highly recommend it! I would say that this book is for 2-6 or so. I'm not sure on that high end, maybe higher depending upon if they are ...
