The Country Cooking of France6 reviews
Anne Willan

Chronicle Books, 2007

Excellent preparation, fine execution!
Make no mistake about the title, "Country" implies neither lack of sophistication, nor compromise on quality of recipe. That said, this book provides a broad spectrum of French cuisine, which makes use of everyday ingredients, prepared in a manner which does not require a mastery of culinary skills. Use of French terminology and the French language itself, is done with purpose and not ...

Anne Willan

DK ADULT, 1992

I love Anne Willan's cookbooks - I want more!!
Anne Willan cookbooks are an excellent source of delicious recipies. I have many of her books and I have yet to be disappointed. I am not a natural chef - I work hard to produce nutritious daily meals as well as party fare. These books make the process much easier as the pictures lead me through every step. I would buy many more.

The Good Cook: 70 Essential Techniques, 250 Step-by-Step Photographs, 350 Easy Recipes3 reviews
Anne Willan

Harry N. Abrams, 2004

Excellent Textbook for Learning New Techniques. Buy it
`The Good Cook' by leading culinary educator, Anne Willan is one of a very rare breed of books that can act as a good textbook of cooking methods. While I am sure there are some like yours truly who actually open `The Joy of Cooking' or `Mastering the Art of French Cooking' or `Essentials of Classic Italian Cooking' and read it from front to back, but around 99% of all cookbooks are, after an ...

Look & Cook: Asian Cooking2 reviews
Anne Willan

DK ADULT, 1994

This Book Is Great!
In the past, I haven't had that much success with cookbooks. I would find myself up to my elbows in ingredients without the faintest idea what it meant to mince or blanche. With this cookbook, it was a breeze... Anne Willan's "Look & Cook" Asian Cooking provides task by task photos of how to work with and add ingredients into what I previously viewed as tricky recipes. It also shows what ...

Anne Willan's Cook It Right4 reviews
Anne Willan

Readers Digest, 1998

Good gift for a new cook...or old cook..
I used to cook a lot, but got away from it for many years -- eating out in restaurants while I pursued a career. I read an article about Anne Willan in our local paper, and had to try one of her books. I'm not ready to make the fancy French dishes (although I would like to eat them) so I decided to buy a simple book and practice the basics again. Ms. Willan explains many basic recipes in this ...

French regional cooking1 review
Anne Willan

W. Morrow, 1981

French Regional Cooking
If there were six stars in the rating system, French Regional Cooking would take them all. Want to make the perfect Tarte Des Demoiselles Tatin? It's here! Coq au vin? Oui! The recipes are easy to follow and the most authentic that I have ever used. Anne Willan writes wonderfully well and her recipes will never let the user down. If there is a fault with the book, it is that Mme. Willan ...

Perfect Salads (Perfect Cookbooks)1 review
Anne Willan

DK ADULT, 1997

Great book!
This book is what I've always wanted a cookbook to be, it includes a shopping, equipment and ingredient list with pictures for each and every one of the recipes, and rich, full color photographs not only of the finished product, but of the process and techniques. The recipes, which are already so great and so easy, include variations...what can I say, this book is one great find!

Look & Cook: Classic Breads1 review
Anne Willan

DK ADULT, 1995

Great series!
I now have 12 of the 17 books in the series and I love every one of them. I make bread almost every day and the pictures in this book helped me to understand what they wanted me to do in how to mix and knead the dough. Each recipe is 4 pages and on the last page there are ideas for other things you can make with that same recipe (adding some flavoring or some such). How can I really go wrong ...

Perfect Pasta (Look & Cook)1 review
Anne Willan

DK ADULT, 1992

Great Company Cooking
Once again, Anne Willan brings us a cookbook that is clear, easy to use, and great for impressing others. I would put this book on my list of "company cookbooks" - for when I want to entertain and revel in the compliments of what a great cook I am. Anne's cookbooks are well known for being easy to follow and full of beautiful photos that make the directions clear. It is not impossible to get ...

Perfect Italian Country Cooking1 review
Anne Willan

DK ADULT, 1997

Picture perfect
This book is great. Although sometimes the recipes seem intimidating the photos help you get through it. The instructional photos are great. The recipes are really good too. I've made about 70% of the recipes in this book...more so than any other of my recipe books.

Anne Willan: From My Chateau Kitchen8 reviews
Anne Willan

Clarkson Potter, 2000

A must have!!!
This book is a great example of why the Internet recipe sites will never replace cookbooks. Nowhere can you find such beautiful pictures, and wonderful recipes as this book. Ms. Willan has written a meticulously researched cookbook that is just as much at home on the coffee table as it is on the kitchen counter. I must respectfully disagree with a previous reviewers comments. The "Gateau le ...
