George Whitefield: An Anointed Ministry, An Impassioned Heart
Well, I finally saved up the money and sprung for this two-volume full-length account of the life of George Whitefield. I had whetted my appetite on the abbreviated volume "George Whitefield: God's Anointed Servant in the Great Revival of the Eighteenth Century" by the same author. I can honestly say this is one of the best investments I've ever made. Reading the life of such a great ...

Engaging Trip through the Life of an Awesome Man of God
Arnold Dallimore's books about the great evangelist George Whitefield enthralled me with every turn of the page. This biography of the Rev. Charles Spurgeon is up to Dallimore's high standards. You'll learn about Spurgeon's voracious appetite for reading, his thorough knowledge of Christian theology at a young age, and his heartfelt conversiona t the age of sixteen while listening to a layman ...

Susanna Wesley - a real woman
Mr. Dallimore presents Susanna as a real person. Her faults and her struggles come alive, and yet she is an inspiration. She was obviously highly educated for her time. The book educates us about history and society in her era, as well as religion. But there are no flat characters. Very informative. Nice and short, also.

Excellent biography of a flawed clergyman
The late Arnold Dallimore, a Canadian pastor and popular biographer, begins this book by declaring his intent to write "without bias" and to present "historic truth with honesty and accuracy." Most readers of a Calvinist--or at least non-Charismatic--persuasion will agree that Dallimore has done his job carefully, thoughtfully, and well. Dallimore stresses Irving's great gifts and even ...

God's Anointed Servant Indeed!
This book is a 224 page condensation of the much longer, two-volume "George Whitefield: The Life and Times of the Great Evangelist of the Eighteenth-Century Revival". I purchased this shorter volume for our church library and am already saving up the $66 to purchase the longer work for my private library. I eagerly anticipate obtaining Dallimore's more exhaustive look at the life of this great ...

Outstanding book on the life of Spurgeon
Detailed enough to get a good feel for the personality and character of the man. Tells something of the physical and mental anguish he faced in the course of directing a vast amount of ministries all under his leadership as pastor of Metroplitan Tabernacle in London. The chapter on Contending for the Faith described what he endured for the cause of truth. A must reading for all Christians.
