The best atlas for driving in Europe
Hello, Please do not listen to the negative review that proceeded this one. I have this atlas and have used it 2x to navigate my way around Europe by car (6,000+ miles total). This atlas is great for "detailed" maps (ie small villages, etc. I also use the AAA Road Atlas of Europe for the "big picture" and general route planning. What a wonderful book. It is set up like an encyclopedia, in alphabetical order, with entries about places in Britain that are of architectural, cultural, and historical interest. Great book with good ideas. I wished it had been a little more detailed, especially as it relates to places to stay and eat along the way. More detailed road directions, with numbers, would also be helpful. A distance chart from city to city would give us a better idea of time to allow. Great for New England travel
We loved this book! It has a number of driving tours that take you to highlights in each state. It has a couple of really nice features. The first, although we didn't stick to it very much, is the time suggested for the trip. They did suggest 2 days for the Southern Vermont tour. Easy to Use
The print and use of color makes these maps very easy to use, and let's me set off on my trips with confidence that I'll have a relatively easy time navigating to where I need to be. Details like diagrams of ferry ports and possibly confusing bypasses are a wonderful addition. The spiral binding and pages are high-quality and stand up to a lot of use. This Driving Tours book is a great resource, but only used as a companion to the Frommer's Northern Italy book. Shouldn't take the two books together to get the whole scoop, but it does if you are an independent traveler. This is an excellent resource IF YOU WANT TO TAKE A ROAD TRIP. All the routes are written for those who are going to be driving from place to place.
