The best beginners/intermediate book around!!!
When I made my first trip to Las Vegas over 10 years ago, I was lucky enought to find this book in the bookstore, insightful enough to buy it and terrified enough of losing money to read it and put it into practice. Since that time I've play tens of thousands of hands of blackjack in casinos all over the Western Hemisphere. I've also bought and read lots of other books on Blackjack. This one ...

An upbeat and well-rounded introduction to publishing
Avery Cardoza's book about publishing is a little more complete than many of the others out there. It isn't written for authors who self-publish, but for entrepreneurs who want to start a book publishing company, though it's helpful to both. His tone is upbeat and encouraging. He's a successful publisher himself, and he shows you how he did it. He has an excellent chapter on finding your niche ...

This is a must!
I happened to see this book at my friend's house but didn't finish the book. So, I went home and ordered it online. After finished reading this book, I must tell you that I'd gained a lot more confidence in winning more money. Last week, I went to Las Vegas with my family, and it DID pay off. Not all the tips and secrets in the book applied, yet I managed to win more money than I'd ever done ...

It's not the books you own, it's the books you read........
I'm guilty of owning all the best books and of reading the ones that are the most user friendly. This book by Avery Cardoza doesn't have anything that isn't to be found in the other good hold'em books, but for the beginner, all the important, basic information is here in a well-organized, entertaining package that covers the basics of limit/no-limit, cash and tournament hold'em. After ...

Great Advice
I'm fairly new to poker, being more of a blackjack guy, so I figured I should try out some reading material before going online and losing all my money. I read a few books that weren't very good and then in the bookstore I found this one. Right now on Amazon the cover is wrong, I know because that's what drew me to the book. It's a great cover (hands coming out of a laptop holding poker chips, ...

Misleading title, no winning strategies involved( bad )
This book only teaches you the rules and nothing about how to win in baccarat. It deceptively set you up for purchasing the more expensive $20.00 book instead, so why did I need to buy this one.

More than just gambling in Vegas
Jay Fenster knows all there is to know for the visitor to Las Vegas. Having his book was like having the best possible tour guide right by my side. I love Mr. Fenster's writing style, and the organization of the book, his grouping of attractions based on the visitor's length of stay. As a non-gambler, I was especially interested in what else we could do. Following Fenster's recommendations, ...

No secrets here
If you find a secret here you've been living in a cave. Reviews of game types are interesting, but you'll not find illustrations of the machines, or the odds, or the various underlying deal algorithms. The editing is poor (e.g., slots are in isles), and advice like "play the machines that give the best odds." Duh!

Great stocking stuffer or small gift!
When I saw this book on the shelf, the cover interested me. Looking inside, I found a dictionary of the colorful poker language. I just recently bought the book for a buddy of mine, though I guess it just came out, who is a poker fanatic and he absolutely loves it. The illustrations go with the definitions and make it a fun book to read, not just a boring old dictionary. I intend to buy at least ...
