It's about time!
A book like this should have come out long ago! When I was taking my "Vulnerable Populations" course in my BSN program we did not even have a textbook. Now nursing students can benefit from the experiences and research in this book.
Katsu Jin Ken - Living Karate - The Way to Self-Mastery

For any serious karateka or budoka!
Shimabukuro Sensei's book truly offers all serious students of budo a way to understand the meaning and philosophy behind karate and for that matter any martial art. While it shows ample photos and examples of kihon, it is the explanation of the smallest principles underlying why we do what we do in the dojo that make it such a compelling book!

A Wonderful Anthology!
Giving an overall rating to an anthology is always VERY difficult. Some stories hit and some miss. Yet, I always enjoy reading an anthology, because you USUALLY come across an unfamiliar author . . . someone new and satisfying. Scotland, 1790. As she quietly sewed, Aileanna MacEwan moved her weary fingers over the beautiful wedding gown, but alas, the exquisite dress was not for her. It was ...

Excellent resource for college teachers
I admit I was skeptical when I started this book--so many pedagogically oriented texts seem to sacrifice content and standards for "feel-good" solutions to education. However, I have found this book to offer excellent suggestions for every aspect of structuring classes to teach and evaluate what you most want your students to learn. In my college English classes, I've used variations of ...

The only book to cover concept and craft
I have used this book as the text in my Costume Design class for years and find it is the only one to my knowledge that covers both the conceptual aspects of costuming for the theatre as well the craft of rendering and construct. It even addresses historical information briefly. I was saddened to hear that the book was out of print. I am hoping a new edition will be out soon

Not all that helpful
This book was written as a supplemental companion to Nursing Assistant: A Nursing Process Approach. I did skim through it a couple of times, but that's about it. I did not find it all that helpful. Save your money and use it for more helpful things like flash cards instead.

A Fantastic Resource for Students and Teachers of Counseling
The Doctor from Botswana, below, is exactly right, and this book is so superb in its organisation and function that it deserves more elucidation. Highly, highly recommended for all student counseling programs! (This is a RARE find!) It will, necessarily, have an American orientation, but the general benefits are applicable to the world-wide audience, and can be adapted. CHAPTER 1: The ...

Dying for a Drink by Dr. Anderson Spickard, Jr.
As the child of an alcohol dependent father who has since passed, I was able to better understand his sickness. From this book, which I have recommended many times over to providers who treat the alcohol dependent patient, I gained an education in 14 days of reading that would have taken many years otherwise. Thank you Dr. Spickard
My Favorite Fantasy Story

A wonderfully eclectic volume of fantasy writing
I enjoyed last year's predecessor volume, My Favorite Science Fiction Story, but this volume is even better. The premise is that eighteen bestselling fantasy writers were asked to pick their all-time favorite fantasy story (by another writer). The result is a very eclectic assortment of tales. Most of these stories I had never seen before (even though I had read other stories by the same ...

Class assignment worth rereading
This book offer alot of details on the anthro field and it was not just the techinical details but actually personal experiences that added a life-view to the profession. Even though I may not be an anthro major I have a higher respect for it and its accomplishments from this book and the class I had on anthro.

Canyon de Chelly is a labyrinth of sheer-walled canyons, spectacular in their beauty and enthralling in their history. Now home to the Navajo, Canyon de Chelly once harbored the mystery-shrouded culture of the Anasazi--ancient people of the canyon's many ruins. Canyon de Chelly National Monument, located in northeastrn Arizona, first set aside in 1931, preserves ancient canyon wall caves and ruins of Indian villages built between ...
Fernando Gallego and His Workshop: The Altarpiece from Ciudad Rodrigo

This major publication sheds new light on one of the most important artworks produced in late fifteenth century Spain. The twenty-six panels of the altarpiece of the cathedral of Ciudad Rodrigo (Castile) rank among the most beautiful and ambitious works by two of Castile?s gifted late medieval painters, Fernando Gallego and the virtually unknown Master Bartolomé. Accompanying a major new exhibition of their work, this extensively illustrated ...
Moving Image Theory: Ecological Considerations

Blending unconventional film theory with nontraditional psychology to provide a radically different set of critical methods and propositions about cinema, Moving Image Theory: Ecological Considerations looks at film through its communication properties rather than its social or political implications. Here is a set of essays on Historia general del Piru that discuss not only the manuscript's physical components--quires and watermarks, scripts and pigments--but also its relation to other Andean manuscripts, Inca textiles, European portraits, and Spanish sources and publication procedures. The sum is an unusually detailed and interdisciplinary analysis of the creation and fate of a historical and artistic treasure. The volume features ...
