Genes VIII4 reviews
Benjamin Lewin

Benjamin Cummings, 2003

A great book on biology
Dr. Lewin's work has helped me understand biology and improve my understanding of the sciences. The design and figures in Genes are wonderfully clear, as is the general body of the text. Furthermore, his website at ergito.com has some great supplemental material on the important procedures of science and past experiments that have changed sciences. Between the Genes book and the ...

Genes VI30 reviews

Good book, but be careful.
I found that this book was a wonderful book for learning just above the basics of cellular genetics and gene regulation, but was better when not used alone. Keep an eye out in the first two to three chapters for several mistakes.

Great book
This book is well written and provides an excellent introduction to the subject matter. It's a comprehensive text for anyone who wishes to gain a thorough exposure to the genes, genomes and gene regulation. However, this book does have it's drawbacks. Recent advances in genomics maybe covered on a later textbook. Perfect for an undergraduate or a beginning grad student. I suggest this book as a ...

Genes IX (Lewin, Genes XI)5 reviews
Benjamin Lewin

Jones & Bartlett Publishers, 2007

New Edition Reflecting New Discoveries.
In the four years since the publication of Genes VII there have been tremendous changes in the subject resulting from the success of many genome sequencing projects. The importance of RNA as a regulator has become increasingly evident and now can be seen to extend across all levels of gene expression in both prokaryotes and eukaryotes. The abundance of new material required that either the book ...

Genes IV
Benjamin Lewin

Oxford University Press, USA, 1990

What is a gene? How is it reproduced? How is it expressed? What controls its expression? This widely used text provides the most current and comprehensive information available in genetics today. Since its first publication in 1983, Genes has been acknowledged as a leader in the field, both as a textbook and as a resource. Through an integrated approach to prokaryotic and eukaryotic biology, it is able to discuss topics in molecular ...

Good book
a well illustrated book of cell biology, worth for reference. But for a more formal course, I'd recommend Harvey Lodish's book.
