Another outstanding dog reference from Barrons.
A comprehensive, no-nonsense approach to the care and keeping of the Maltese. Anyone who knows the breed at all will delight in the information presented by the author, the lovely photos selected by the publisher, and the exquisite illustrations by Michelle Earl-Bridges. FOR THE LIFE OF YOUR DOG: A Complete Guide to Having a Dog From Adoption and Birth Through Sickness and Health13 reviews
Greg Louganis, Betsy Sikora Siino

Pocket, 1999

The best "all around" dog book ever...
As a shelter volunteer, when I read this I kept hearing my own voice...talking to people who were wanting to adopt dogs: gently and encouragingly explaining how they should choose a dog (not based upon looks or on their general understanding of a certain breed), how to train their dog in a positive fashion (not using an "I'll show you who is boss" attitude)...It's ALL here...EVERYTHING... ...

Samoyeds (Barron's Complete Pet Owner's Manuals)3 reviews
Betsy Sikora Siino

Barron's Educational Series, 1998

A Wonderful Guide for the Samoyed Fancier!
Quite simply, the best guide to the Samoyed I've seen. It will be a welcome addition to the adoption kits we give to new owners of rescued Samoyeds! Regardless of your involvement- breeders, rescue, new owner, seasoned veteran - this book is a must have. It's well-written, informative, and contains plenty of helpful illustrations. You'll love the beautiful photographs! E.J. McWhorter, ...

The Essential Freshwater Aquarium (The Essential Guides)3 reviews

Howell Book House, 1998

Great beginner guide and quick reference
I used this book to clean up a dying 10 gallon tank and start a 55 gallon tank and the information was invaluable. Two years later I still refer back to this book (in fact I am buying a replacement for my lost copy). I found it to contain all the essential information one needs, plus great information on fish personalities and interactions. The fish descriptions and types are quite abridged, but ...

This is a great book with a lot of useful information about selecting a rabbit, caring for your rabbit, the different breeds, and even little rabbit facts!

The Essential Guinea Pig (The Essential Guides)4 reviews

Howell Book House, 1998

As the title suggests..this is the essential guide...
My niece gave my daughter her guinea pig when she was moving. I have to admit, I was not too happy with the rodent at first. I am more of a dog/cat type of person..but soon this little furry creature stole my heart. I bought this book for her to learn how to take care of the guinea pig. It has EVERYTHING you need to know about them. I have looked at several books like this in book stores, but ...

Alaskan Malamutes (Complete Pet Owner's Manual)9 reviews
Betsy Sikora Siino

Barron's Educational Series, 2007

A Prospective Mal Owner
As a prospective Mal owner I found this book very imformative, more so than some of the larger and more expensive books which I have in my collection. Especially the section ARE YOU THE RIGHT PERSON FOR A MAL. I found this especially interesting as a Mal is not suitable for just anyone. A well written book with plenty of good information which some other books don't cover enough. I recommend this ...

The Siberian Husky: An Owner's Guide toa Happy Healthy Pet1 review
Betsy Sikora Siino

Howell Book House, 1996

Book was good just very vague.
I read this book in two days. It was very informative but alot of the book was general. General in the way that a lot of information shared was about dogs in general and were not very specific to the Siberian Husky. Was a very short book also. Would be a better book to check out at the library than to spend your money.

The Hamster: An Owner's Guide to a Happy Healthy Pet9 reviews

Howell Book House, 1997

An Excellent Hamster Book
I have owned hamsters for over a year now and have read quite a few books and websites about the cute little pets. In the last few months I have become bored with the same old stuff in all the books - most, however, have adorable pictures that make up for it, but nevertheless I hoped to find one with new information. Then - behold! - I picked up this book. A very attractive, well-made and ...

The Essential Ferret (Essential (Howell))6 reviews

Howell Book House, 1999

Great Book to Start You Out With The New Ferret
This book was highly informative and I am a veteran ferret owner and consider myself knowledgeable. It's not a complete Bible on ferrets or ferret owning, but if you only choose one book, let this be it. :)

Quarter Horse Spirit (Spirit of the Horse)1 review
Betsy Sikora Siino

BowTie Press, 1998

Disappointing
I bought this book mainly expecting spectacular photos of quarterhorses, as these were taken by Bob Langrish. I was disappointed, as there were no really special or spectacular photos, in fact, i've taken better. I can't even say the information was very helpful. If it's more info on the AQH, you want, buy another book. However, this book would be a nice first introductory book to give someone ...

High Praises for Arabian spirit
Nothing but high praises from me on this book. I found it to be a great book. The pictures are great, the text and information is clear, and imformative. Guide to Owning an American Eskimo (Re Dog)7 reviews
Betsy Sikora Siino

TFH Publications, 1997

Please Read
For anyone that hasn't owned an American Eskimo, this is a good starter book. It's even better for kids! It has a lot of wonderful pictures though the book itself won't stand up to much abuse. It's has some neat information in it, don't overlook this book. I love it. Whomever can glean from this book that an Eskie is a descendent of the Malamute obviously needs to read the book instead of looking ...
