Brown Bear's back!
I remember reading this charming story to my own kids and also to my preschool class. Now it's been reissued in board book format, artistically illustrated, and every bit as enjoyable. This is a perfect book for teaching color and animal names, in a catchy rhyming format. Each page foretells what the animal and color will be on the next. Recommended for reading to babies and for beginning ...

Great book!
My son loves this book. We have a couple of copies so we have one for home and on the road. He got hooked on it with the Blue's Clues video Alphabet Power. He watches it all the time and has also learned how to write some of the letters.

What Our Pledge Really Means.....
Every morning millions of children stand and face the flag, place their hands over their hearts, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. But what do these 31 words really mean? Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson have taken the pledge apart, and explained each word (pledge: A pledge is a promise), or phrase (one nation: Our states and territories have bonded together to form one nation. A Beasty Story11 reviews

Voyager Books, 2002

children loved it
The Beasty Story was one of the most delightful books I have ever read to my class and to my grandchildren. My 3 year old grandson sits on the couch time after time looking and talking to the mice. The illustrations are enchanting.

Introducing animals and their sounds
I bought this book together with "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?" a couple of days ago, and my 3y.o. kid loves them both. My son helps me read out loud and is learning complicated words like "boa constrictor". It's very simple and great for introducing new animals and new words (such as "roaring" or "hissing"), we have a lot of fun reading it together every day.

Kitty Cat, Kitty Cat, Are You Waking Up?1 review
Bill Martin Jr., Michael Sampson

Marshall Cavendish Corp/Ccb, 2008

Darling story of what most parents experience daily as they try to wake up their children and get them ready for school...
This adorable story traces a mother and child as they move from waking up, to getting dressed, to eating breakfast, and to leaving for school, with other adventures mixed in along the way. The star is a little mouse who participates in the fun!

The Bill Martin Jr Big Book of Poetry1 review

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2008

THE BEST OF THE VERSE
As a child I was a voracious reader and a collector of storybook dolls among other things. When I was grown, gone and married, Mom asked what she should do with all of my "things" (the obvious hope being that I would send for them). No, I just asked if she would give them away. She did this, albeit reluctantly, save for some books. There was a time when I thought that was sentimental but ...

Barn Dance! (Reading Rainbow Book)12 reviews
Bill, Jr. Martin, John Archambault

Cover to Cover Cassettes, 1988

Fantastically Lyrical
We stumbled across this book at a church rummage sale this past week. What a delightful find! The illustrations are wonderful. The rhythm inherent in the story had me putting the words to a spontaneously inspired tune starting on page one. We have been singing this book before bedtime all week. My 4yr and nearly 2yr love it.

Old Devil Wind
Bill Martin Jr

Voyager Books, 1996

In this cumulative tale that begins on ?one dark and stormy night,? Ghost begins to wail. Then Candle flickers. Floor creaks. Owl hoots. And Wind begins to blow . . . and blow . . . and BLOW. . . . ?The mounting cadence will be splendid aloud; kids will begin to chime in on the first reading. Root?s dark, swirling paintings of the thoroughly haunted house, lit with a ghostly glow, are right in the proper spirit.?-- Kirkus Reviews

The Maestro Plays4 reviews

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 1994

My Kids' Favorite
This book was my daughter's favorite when she was a baby. Now her new little brother has reacted in the same way. Little ones don't often have to patience to sit still while you read every page of a book, but for some reason they find the Maestro so captivating that they request it over and over again. Our little crawler will drag it across the room and plop it in my lap. How can you say ...

The Happy Hippopotami (Bill Martin Instant Reader)3 reviews
Jr. Martin Bill

Holt Rinehart and Winston, 1970

We LOVE this book!!
This is a great book to read to antsy kids. My child not only istened, but got very involved with the characters, soon WE were a hippopota-family! Who can resist saying, "Hippopotamama"? The text flows beautifully and the illustrations are playful and just perfect for this tale! If you loved the Happy Hippopotomi, then I wholeheartedly recommend, "The Maestro Plays" also by Bill Martin, Jr.

"Fire! Fire!" Said Mrs. McGuire6 reviews
Bill Martin Jr

Harcourt Children's Books, 2006

Help! They're chasing me!
My daughter checked this book out of the library and made me read it to her over and over again. I didn't see the appeal of this book! But she loved it. So for Fire Safety week with my preschoolers, we read this book. They loved it! My god, they made me read it over and over and over again. They followed me around the room and made me read it. I still don't see the appeal. But kids love this ...
