Simply the best!
This is my daughter's favorite book! I got it for her when she was about 6 months old (now 16 months), and I swear i've read it over 100 times by her request! That shows how much she loves this book. The rhyming and bright colors really capture her attention. I'm sure any young child will love this book too!

Aladdin, 2000

Educatioal and Well Written
What a FUN book! My two-year-old son loves this book and I love to read it to him. The words have a great cadence and I find myself singing each page! The pictures are very primitive which is nice (no sensory overload) and it helps young children to learn their alphabet. The story is super cute and the author uses great imagery. Although the illustrations are primitive, you can imagine these ...

Dan Lipow's visually impressive photography combines nicely to illustrate and showcase the informed and informative text co-authored by Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson in "I Love Our Earth", a 32-page introductory survey to the wonderful sights, sounds and colors of the earth for children ages 3 to 6. A Beasty Story9 reviews
Bill Martin Jr

Voyager Books, 2002

Wonderful!!!
Our son, 3 1/2, LOVES this book. He is into anything that is scary...but doesn't want to be scared (if that makes sense). Like Scooby Doo...starts off scary, but there is always a reason, nothing supernatural! Terrific illustrations, educational and surprising! Fun book to read for the adults too. The type of book that you notice something new each time you read! Adorable!

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2003

Exciting new spin on Brown Bear, Brown Bear
Review by Sherry North, Author, Because You Are My Baby This book follows the same pattern as the classic Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? but with an exciting new spin -- exotic, endangered animals. It also has a delightful surprise ending that makes it perfect for a bedtime story.

Chicka Chicka 1, 2, 3 (Chicka Chicka Boom Boom)23 reviews
Bill Martin Jr, Michael Sampson

Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing, 2004

Great introduction to two digit numbers
This is a good book for little ones to learn two digit numbers. Once they know their single digit digit numerals then it helps with the teen numbers and onward in a similar rhyming style as the first Chicka Chicka ABCs book.

Bill Jr Martin, Michael Sampson

Candlewick, 2004

What Our Pledge Really Means.....
Every morning millions of children stand and face the flag, place their hands over their hearts, and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. But what do these 31 words really mean? Bill Martin Jr. and Michael Sampson have taken the pledge apart, and explained each word (pledge: A pledge is a promise), or phrase (one nation: Our states and territories have bonded together to form one nation. One ...

Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?48 reviews
Bill Martin Jr.

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 1997

for all ages
My 2 year old granddaughter loved "Brown Bear, Brown Bear", so I knew she would like "Polar Bear, Polar Bear" The artwork is simple but attractive. The messages are short but very appropriate. As a former teacher, I would love to have used this book with third graders as an example of the use of specific verbs. They would have loved it just as Caitlin and my 9-month old grandson does. A ...

Music of Yes: Structure and Vision in Progressive Rock (Feedback - the Series in Contemporary Music)13 reviews
Bill, Jr. Martin

Open Court Publishing Company, 1996

Tour-de-force book on Yes
Yes burst onto the musical scene in the early 1970's with a string of remarkably creative musical works. Radio hits like "Roundabout," and the epic "Close to the Edge" exhibited that instrumental virtuosity, esthetic merit, and commercial appeal could co-exist in Rock music. As the decade progressed even more ambitious works were attempted such as "Tales from Topographic Oceans" and "The ...

Chicka Chicka ABC Magnet Book4 reviews
Jr, Bill Martin, John Archambault

Little Simon, 2002

Cute idea
My 27-month old daughter loves this book. Sometimes she needs help opening the bag containing the letter magnets, but she will sit for quite a while independently trying to match the letters with their pictures in the book. Or we can read the story and work together with the magnets. The page following the story with the alphabet listed is also helpful in getting her to recognize the letters as ...

Old Devil Wind
Bill Martin Jr

Voyager Books, 1996

In this cumulative tale that begins on “one dark and stormy night,” Ghost begins to wail. Then Candle flickers. Floor creaks. Owl hoots. And Wind begins to blow . . . and blow . . . and BLOW. . . . “The mounting cadence will be splendid aloud; kids will begin to chime in on the first reading. RootÂ's dark, swirling paintings of the thoroughly haunted house, lit with a ghostly glow, are right in the proper spirit.”--Kirkus ...

The Maestro Plays4 reviews
Bill Martin Jr

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 1994

My Kids' Favorite
This book was my daughter's favorite when she was a baby. Now her new little brother has reacted in the same way. Little ones don't often have to patience to sit still while you read every page of a book, but for some reason they find the Maestro so captivating that they request it over and over again. Our little crawler will drag it across the room and plop it in my lap. How can you say ...

Harcourt Children's Books, 1996

Help! They're chasing me!
My daughter checked this book out of the library and made me read it to her over and over again. I didn't see the appeal of this book! But she loved it. So for Fire Safety week with my preschoolers, we read this book. They loved it! My god, they made me read it over and over and over again. They followed me around the room and made me read it. I still don't see the appeal. But kids love this ...

The Happy Hippopotami3 reviews
Bill Martin Jr

Voyager Books, 1992

We LOVE this book!!
This is a great book to read to antsy kids. My child not only istened, but got very involved with the characters, soon WE were a hippopota-family! Who can resist saying, "Hippopotamama"? The text flows beautifully and the illustrations are playful and just perfect for this tale! If you loved the Happy Hippopotomi, then I wholeheartedly recommend, "The Maestro Plays" also by Bill Martin, Jr.
