Jack of Fables, Vol. 3: The Bad Prince4 reviews
Bill Willingham, Matt Sturges

Vertigo, 2008

A brilliant continuation of the Fables' Universe
Even though Jack is perhaps my least favorite Fable in the wonderful imaginative universe that Bill Willingham has created, I once again have been completely blown away by one of his collections. This addition to the sequence features some truly wonderful twists. There are also a number of additions to the overall Jack narrative that significantly increases the complexity of the tale. The ...

Fables Vol. 9: Sons of Empire14 reviews
Bill Willingham, James Jean

Vertigo, 2007

A series that is stunning in its consistent brilliance
I discovered FABLES perhaps a bit later than many others, but I'm making up for it with my enthusiasm for it. I've now read all of the nine main books, the 1001 NIGHTS OF SNOWFALL spin off, and the two Jack of the Fables books (even though Jack is possibly my least favorite character in the books). I look forward to getting the tenth book this June. My point is: this is an addictive series. ...

Fables Vol. 1: Legends in Exile49 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2002

Decent detective story
This collection is an intro into the Fables-world. Simple detective story is used as a plot to introduce major characters & places.

Fables Vol. 5: The Mean Seasons15 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2005

almost four stars
I like it much better when the storylines are bigger and we have to keep the focus on Bigby and Snow, but even the smaller stories contained within are up to the level of the previous volumes. It advances the stories of what were more side characters.

Fables Vol. 7: Arabian Nights (and Days)13 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2006

Another delightful contribution to the finest comic series currently running
ARABIAN NIGHTS (AND DAYS) maintains the high quality established by all the previous volumes in Bill Willingham's award winning FABLES series. The joys of this volume are smaller compared with those that came before. Apart from the release of a djinn and Frau Totenkiller's role in reigning it in, there are no major arcs. That does not mean that the volume isn't filled with pleasures, but they ...

Fables Vol. 2: Animal Farm27 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2003

Some rough action
I was not sure if I should buy this collection after I read first one (Legends in Exile). But then I thought that the first one is a mere introduction to the world and characters - and I bought this one. Second collection introduces even more characters and shows another location. But it also shows that this series is not about melodrama and nostalgia. It has some radical action and it looks ...

Fables Vol. 3: Storybook Love20 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2004

Another marvelous entry into a wonderful series
I worried a bit over the rating to give this volume in Bill Willingham's FABLES series. If judged by other volumes in the series, it would probably merit a 4 star rating. But judged by the vast majority of comics and graphic novels, it easily deserves 5 stars. So, 5 stars it is. As other reviewers have noted, this collects four separate stories of unequal length. The longest by far gives ...

Fables Vol. 10: The Good Prince14 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2008

Definitely one of the best volumes
This volume pretty much blew my mind away. Flycatcher had usually been such a insignificant character, and now... wow. The whole story was incredible, and I am eager to see what Volume 11 will bring.

Fables Vol. 6: Homelands14 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2006

one of the best so far
I really have to hand it to them, I wasn't that much of a fan of Jack or Blue until I read this collection. Jack's story takes place with his greatest scheme yet, which places him in Hollywood, creating a blockbuster trilogy and boom... well, you have to see. And Boy Blue's story is just fantastic as he battles his way across the Homelands to rescue Pinnochio and Red Riding Hood. A definite must.

Jack of Fables Vol. 1: The (Nearly) Great Escape8 reviews
Bill Willingham, Matthew Sturges

Vertigo, 2007

Jack of Fables
Jack of Fables gets his own spin-off series! I have to admit, at first, I was sort of like, why? But, now I understand. It's because Jack kicks butt! In case you don't know, Jack also goes by Jack of the Beanstalk, Jack B. Horner, Jack of the Tales, and apparently Jack Frost in colder climates. When we last saw Jack in the Fables comics, he had become a huge player in the Hollywood scene, ...

Jack of Fables Vol. 2: Jack of Hearts5 reviews
Bill Willingham, Matthew Sturges

Vertigo, 2007

Fabulous!
The second trade paperback collection of this equally successful spin-off of Bill Willingham's FABLES doesn't flag or disappoint in the least. The wildly imaginative adventures of Jack Horner in all his many and varied "Jack-hoods" is intricately plotted and beautifully written. The characters, while reflecting accurately and unflinchingly their archetypal storybook origins, are fleshed-out, ...

Fables Vol. 4: March of the Wooden Soldiers17 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2004

My favorite book in the series so far -- Just great stuff!
I've discovered Bill Willingham's FABLES only recently and I've become an instant fan. And what's not to adore? Great premise. Great characters. Great writing. Super drawing. While I've loved all the first four books in the FABLES series (I have already ordered 5-7 from Amazon), the third entry, fell just below the best volumes simply because the numbers contained too many arcs. This ...

Fables Vol. 8: Wolves17 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2006

Big events dominate one of the best books in the series
Warning! Spoilers below! This is one of my favorite books in the entire FABLES series. It is built around several major events. First, Mowgli continues his long and ultimately successful search for Bigby Wolf, partly because Prince Charming wants him to carry out a mission behind the Adversary's lines and partly to fulfill the requirements to allow the early release of Bagheera for his ...

DC Comics, 2005

Return of the dead
Beware. If you ever receive an envelope from Ra's al Ghul, do not open it. Unfortunately for Batman, it is already too late. Ra's once again uses his private knowledge of Batman's residence to open up a virtual Pandora's Box of mayhem for him, all with the goal of enticing him to provide the means for his return. He can certainly write an intriguing and especially foreboding letter, and from the ...

Fables: 1001 Nights of Snowfall31 reviews
Bill Willingham

Vertigo, 2006

Fabulous, simply fabulous
I definitely loved this book. It was a bit disappointing knowing that it wasn't Scheherazade telling these tales, I would rather have seen her do this, but the stories themselves were nonetheless fantastic, so for that, I give five stars.

Another Infinite Crisis crossover. Read the final battle of Superboy! Ok...I guess I'll be the 1st to review this tpb collection. This tpb collects TEEN TITANS #29-33, TEEN TITANS ANNUAL #1 and ROBIN #146-147 and INFINITE CRISIS #6. Here are the following story arcs in the tpb: Jason Todd sneaking into the Titans Tower and confronting Tim Drake, the current Robin. They duke it out to see ...

Casualties Mount
Literally taken place the evening after the first War Games, War Games: Tides is the continued story of the battle facing Batman and his allies in the face of gang reprisals following the death of many of the city's key underworld leaders. War Games: Tides provides an answer to who is responsible for that fateful meeting, and has fatal consequences for one of Batman's allies as others try to gain ...
