Loveless Vol. 2: Thicker Than Blackwater4 reviews
Brian Azzarello

Vertigo, 2007

Horrors of the past and present
During the Vietnam War, M.A.S.H. created an artistic vehicle to discuss the Vietnam War. M.A.S.H. was set in the Korean War, but everyone knew they were talking about the current war. The same is true with Loveless. Although it is set during the American Civil War. The story is about our current wars and conflicts. This series has been very good from the start. Brian Azzarello is smarter ...

great new series
100 Bullets is a great new series, though I've read the books not included here, and I think it might have been better as a mini-series. Nice artwork, interesting and original storyline, though not one that coudl be continued indefinitely. Still, good stuff, if only the first volume. Legendary.

Hellblazer: Hard Time (Hellblazer (Graphic Novels))5 reviews

Vertigo, 2000

A Rake at the Gates of Hell
Brilliant crime-author Brian Azzarello has done the unthinkable. He's taken John Constantine past where even Garth Ennis had darred. Azzarrello, once attacked for being and American on what was a very English book, showed us that of all the demons and monsters that a magic man like John Constantine has to face, the scarriest buggers out there are still just humans. In prison for murder, on his ...

Engaging Short Stories
A lot of short stories that look at Batman in a different way. Very thought out for such short pieces. Volume I is better, so go for that first, but if you want more of the same, this will do nicely.

A Black and White World View
Batman: Black and White vol. 2 is a work of passion and dedication to a character by the artists and authors represented in the book, and their love and fire for Batman shows in every detail. Originally printed as back up stories in Gotham Knights #1-16, these stories which are between 6-8 pages are entirely in black, white, and gray. They encompass a vast variety of the aspects of the Batman, ...

The ultimate 100 bullets book!

Superman: For Tomorrow, Vol. 216 reviews
Brian Azzarello

DC Comics, 2006

Lois...
This is the conclusion to Brian Azzarillo's Superman for Tomorrow books (though why they split them up, I don't know, unless it is for the extra cash). Again Lee's artwork is phenomenal and Azzarillo's story is great.

DC Comics, 2006

another great Superman story (vol 1)
First I have to say, Jim Lee's artwork is great. It helps make the book(s) well worth reading, not including Brian Azzarello (of 100 Bullets fame) and his great storytelling ability. What happens when millions of people just disappear? Find out by reading these two books.

100 Bullets Vol. 11: Once Upon a Crime4 reviews

Vertigo, 2007

You Know the Score
An awesome new chapter to 100 Bullets. Things are really starting to heat up as plans are but into motion, alliances change, and you find out the one things that disgusts Lono. Basically, if you've been reading 100 Bullets, you know you are getting this book. If you haven't read 100 Bullets, why the hell aren't you? Pick up the first 2 books and start reading from there and catch up. Do not ...

Another awesome part to the series
Can't say much else about it, I've read it long before I had to write this review. But as far as books go, I would defintiely read it again.

100 Bullets Vol. 9: Strychnine Lives4 reviews
Brian Azzarello

Vertigo, 2006

Genius.
Brian Azzarello, 100 Bullets: Strychnine Lives (Vertigo, 2006) It took seven and a half months from the time I put this on hold at the library until the time it showed up in my hot little hands. Seven and a half months of waiting after the best volume in the ever-improving series. Seven and a half months of wondering where Azzarello and artist Eduardo Risso (and why, in nine introductions, has ...

Batman: Broken City18 reviews
Brian Azzarello, Eduardo Risso

DC Comics, 2004

Batnoir at its' best
Where is Angel Lupo? That is the question that Batman keeps asking, unfortunately for all of the wrong reasons, in this retro flavored detective yarn. This story is so richly drenched in 1940s noir, and also in a constant rain that so evocatively recalls that genre, that I was half expecting Sam Spade to appear at any moment wearing a trenchcoat. All that was missing were the taste of cheap ...

Vertigo, 2004

Book 7.
Here we have the seventh edition of my favourite ongoing series. This volume we see a return of characters we haven't seen in quite some time. The first story arch in this volume is a four-part tale set in a prison where we catch up on loop, who we haven't seen since volume 3. In the second arch is the return of the drug junkie jack daw. This is a great volume from the creators of the 100 bullets ...

A great follow-up and continuation to First Shot, Last Call
I was totally blown away by 100 Bullets: First Shot, Last Call. Most people think of comic books as mostly about superheroes and villains. Sure there's the rare serious titles that deal with more than just costumed heroes and out of this world situations, but outside of Miller's Sin City, there's not been another comic book to truly take a shot at creating a noir title that does the word honor. ...

100 Bullets Vol. 5: The Counterfifth Detective11 reviews
Brian Azzarello

Vertigo, 2003

Excellent Graphic Novel Noir
Even if you're not a big 100 Bullets fan you ought to give this one a spin because it's unlike the rest of the series and crawls into dark noir territory. Murderous Megan is around and the ubiquitous Agent Grave is there, too, but the multi-issue curve follows a cool personality crisis tale that's beautifully designed by Eduardo Risso. There's loads of sex and death here. Highly recommended.

Amazing! Buy now, you won't be sorry!
I always figured comic books were either for kids or for adults and took themselves way too seriously. Then one day, I was reading a respectable magazine and found an article about comic books. It was then when I realized that I hadn't ever actually read a comic book. So I went down to my local comic book store and bought a few comic books, or "graphic novels" as it seems comic book junkies ...

DC Comics, 2003

Kubert's Rock
Artist Joe Kubert doing Sgt Rock again...for most fans of the original Rock of Easy Company, that is all you need to say. And Between Hell and a hard place, it is a graphic delight. War comics were a staple of DC and Marvels comic line (Rock, Haunted Tank, The Losers, Unknown Soldier for DC, Sgt Fury for Marvel)in the 1960-1990's. Then suddenly they (like the Westerns genre) vanished from the ...

100 Bullets Vol. 6: Six Feet Under the Gun4 reviews
Brian Azzarello

Vertigo, 2003

One Of The Best OF The Series.
This 100 bullets collection is one of the best pieces of art and crime noir on the comic shelf. This collection features six stories following six of the most important characters in the series, dizzy, cole burns, lono, graves, benito, and wylie. It has some of the best short stories i've ever read. This is Azzarello and risso at their upmost best. Awsome.
