ASP 3.0 Programmer's Reference18 reviews
Richard Anderson, Dan Denault, ...

Wrox Press, 1999

Much More Than Just an ASP Reference
Wrox is selling itself short on this one. Not only is it a great reference for ASP (lots of good examples and explanations), there are also several equally good chapters on ADO, CDO, XML, XLST, ADSI, MSMQ and Transactions. I've used it as a reference for these other topics as much or more than I've used it as an ASP reference.

Depths of Hell (The Darkness, Volume 6)1 review
David Wohl, Brian Buccellato, ...

Top Cow Productions/Image Comics, 2007

Estacado at his finest
I really liked this volume better than the 5, that was a little... on the down side. This one has great art, great story telling in most of the stories, and Estacado is at his very finest, and at odds with the darkness that doesn't even let him sleep at night because it's when it thrives! I really liked this volume of "The Darkness"!!! XD

Indespensible ASP Reference
This book has carried me now for two years. I don't need some end all be all bible - MSDN keeps updates on specific issues I have. This is a great ASP reference for the "working" programmer who just needs to see an example of "how it's done". Chalked full of sample code that WORKS!!!

Wrox Press, 1997

Very Useful so far in learning to tie HTML to ASP w/vbscript
The short time I have been using this book I find that I can find very useful information for what I need to do with ASP. Very good examples. Very well layed out book. The number of yellow stickies shows me that I have found useful and specific examples relevant to my needs. The book uses VBScript which is just what I want. Even walks you through creating a COM component.

Spaceman Blues: A Love Song7 reviews
Brian Francis Slattery

Topeka Bindery, 2007

Wild Ride of Words
An apartment explodes, and, supposedly, Manuel González is blown to smithereens along with it. Or is he? Brian Francis Slattery's debut novel, "Spaceman Blues: A Love Song," is an explosion of words, all in bright sparks, in all directions, a flaming sky of beautiful chaos. Even when I had trouble following this surreal story, I loved reading it. It almost didn't have to make sense. Sometimes the ...

The BEST book for classical ASP
Obsolete??? Hardly. As I write this review, new Web page technologies are being matured: jsp, php, chm (yech). New models are being matured: Servlets, STRUTS, .NET. Classical ASP 3.0 is still quick, fast and necessary for small to medium businesses, even enterprise-level webpages. There's no better book to learn all the standards, applications, basics, and advanced capabilities of ASP than THIS ...

Brian Francis, Chris Ullman, ..., 1998

Must Read
If you are a beginner, or simply need a refresher course on ASP this is the book for you. The authors give straight forward examples that effectively bring the power of ASP to you. WROX has established itself as a force to be reckoned with in recent years. I wish all of their books were only half as good as this one.

The Trees of Sonora, Mexico1 review
Richard Stephen Felger, Matthew Brian Johnson, ...

Oxford University Press, USA, 2001

A Definitive Book on Sonoran Trees
Sonoran tree communities range from coastal mangroves along the Gulf of California to pine forests atop the Sierra Madre on the continental divide, with thornscrub and tropical deciduous forest filling many of the gaps. While many genera familiar to gringo tree-watchers can be found in Sonora's 285 species-dendroflora -- such as pines, oaks, junipers, alders, ashes, cottonwoods and willows -- most ...

Excellent book for bringing you up to speed
Prior to purchasing this book I had no experience with ASP whatsoever. One day at work I was told that I needed to study up on ASP, and fast. I didn't really know where to start, but I ended up with this book, and it has been a lifesaver. I took the time to work through the examples in a select few key chapters, and was amazed that after only a couple of days I had developed the skills ...

Batman Poison Ivy: Poison Ivy (Batman)2 reviews
John Francis Moore

Dc Comics, 1997

An Incredibly Realistic Work of Fiction
If you're a comic fan, you probably love Batman. If you are a comic-art fan, you probably have heard of Brian Apthorp. But if your a fan of incredibley well written books, I bet you have never heard of this special. It came out to promote the last Batman movie, and was just a marketing gimmik. It turned out to be an extemely human comic book, though. This graphic novel shows the reason why ...

Vbscript Programmer's Reference39 reviews
Adrian Kingsley-Hughes, Kathie Kingsley-Hughes, ...

Wrox Press, 1999

Great book, be sure to buy the 2nd Edition
This is an outstanding book. At first I was confused by some of the older reviews, until I realized that Amazon is still selling the old 1st edition, and many folks are buying that one instead of the newer, much better Second Edition. Be sure you're buying the Second Edition! That book's ISBN is 0764559931. It's the one with the picture of three authors on the cover.

Professional IE4 Programming7 reviews
Andrew Enfield, Brian Francis, ...

Apress, 1997

No other books have the value of this one.
I work as a Web Programmer since 1997, mainly dealing with Internet Explorer. There are few references covering Document Object Model and DHTML - The only one is MSDN. I bought this book in 1997 and still I am keeping this just beside me in my office. Though lacking up-to-date information, the overall DOM and DHTML scripting have not been changed much and the basics and essentials can be easily ...

The Secret Fruit of Peter Paddington: A Novel (P.S.)5 reviews
Brian Francis, 2005

Fruity Delight
This book had me laughing out loud on several ocasions. Witty, memorable, and great characters bring out a charm rarely realized in gay novels. Sidekick Daniela, the smart-mouthed Italian neighbor, makes the novel her own. Definately worth the purchase.

Insight Guide Shanghai (Insight Guides)4 reviews

Insight Guides, 2003

substantial guide
If you are looking for a cheap, pocket-size guidebook full of hackneyed cliches about Shanghai, and have the attention span of an MTV- and video game-addled ten-year-old, then by all means, don't buy this book. But if you are looking for something more substantial, the kind of guide that you can sink your teeth into and absorb valuable information about the city's history, society, culture, ...

X-Men: The Complete Age of Apocalypse Epic, Book 121 reviews

Marvel Comics, 2006

great storyline
this includes all the comic that is associated w/ the AoA storyline so you don't miss a thing. it might be a little confusing for the average reader who has no information to the AoA background, but w/ a little marvel knowledge of the universe and continuities then you will appreciate this collection a lot more.

Fruit6 reviews
Brian Francis

MacAdam/Cage, 2004

Eat 5 servings a day!
Wonderful and strange novel about an overweight teenaged boy whose nipples talk to him. Sounds weird, right? And it is, but it's also gut-wrenchingly honest and open, and any kid who's ever struggled with a weight problem (or with a sexual identity crisis, for that matter), will completely relate to thirteen year-old Peter Paddington. Horrified by his huge nipples (or, as they'd call them on ...

IE5 Dynamic HTML Programmer's Reference5 reviews
Brian Francis, Alex Homer, ...

Peer Information Inc., 1999

Best book on this topic I've read
This book is very readable, gets right to the point, and will not put you to sleep. Several others (such as Inside DHTML) are so anhydrous they'll suck up all the rain in Seattle. This book however is a great intro to DHTML. You don't have to be an expert in HTML to get a lot out of this book. Has good appendices on HTML, DHTML, JScript, and VBScript.

The Essays or Counsels Civil and Moral (Oxford World's Classics)3 reviews

Academic yet Enriching!
Bold statements are made in these essays - essentially changing the way man thought about his universe. A great study in scientific thought and materialism.

Professional ASP.NET 1.0 (Programmer to Programmer)35 reviews, ...

Wrox, 2002

You'd think it would be more help
I got this when it was basically the only book out there. Since then, whenever I have an ASP.NET problem I open this book, search vainly through the 1300 pages for coherent help, then give up and go to google groups. With all that writing you'd think that I would occasionally find my answers in there...
