Samson and Delilah/the Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series1 review
Burton D. Fisher, Camille Saint-Saens

Opera Journeys, 2000

Mini-sized guide laden with maxi-helpful information
The Opera Journeys Mini Guide Series is just wonderful; it's like a "Cliff Note" of the opera, and extremely informative and educational. I particularly like the size; these guides are not cumbersome and fit right into my shirt pocket. The ladies will find sufficient room in their pocketbooks. The story narrative with the music examples is excellent. I prefer it to a libretto; indeed, it's ...

Camille Saint-Saens and the French Solo Concerto: From 1850 to 19201 review
Michael Stegemann

Hal Leonard Corporation, 2003

A valuable book
This is one of very few books recognising the special features of French music of the Romantic Era, and in particular the important contribution of music written by Camille Saint-Saens. Following the introduction, the first chapter offers a 32-page insight into the composer's character and life. This, alone, is a rare encounter and comes eight years before the detailed biographies by Rees and ...

Danse Macabre and Other Works for Solo Piano1 review
Camille Saint-Saens

Dover Publications, 1998

Wonderful for bookbinders.
1: The music is REALLY hard. Saint-Saens was not an easy man. 2: Franz Liszt isn't that great at transcribing this title piece. 3: Everything else is great though. It hasn't happened yet, but I sense that the book is going to fall apart soon. So learn bookbinding and keep it in BETTER condition for cheap.

Piano Concertos Nos. 2 and 4 in Full Score2 reviews
Camille Saint-Saens

Dover Publications, 1995

Saint Saens Better Known Piano Concertos
I thought that this book was excellent. I found that the edition was very much as Saint Saens intended and I beleive that it was enlightening and informative. The staves were easy to read and the piano part especially was clear. As far as the actual music goes, it is devine. Saint Saens is a personal favorite and owning this score has been a delight. I recommend this book to any appreciator of ...

Great Fun!
My three year old and six year old both love hearing the animal sounds created by the music. It is so enjoyable to hear beautiful music while reading along and viewing the very colorful illustrations. This is one we will definitely read over and over again. A great introduction to classical music for little ones. Also, very enjoyable for the parent!

AVE VERUM FOR TWO (2) SOPRANO VOICES AND ORGAN
Camille Saint-Saens

Schott, 2008

Arranged for two equal voices and organ (without pedals) which may be sung by two sopranos, soprano and Mezzo-soprano or soprano and alto. With good singers this selection, along with AVE Maris (Schott ED 09808), might well be sung by a choir also.

Great Romantic Cello Concertos in Full Score1 review
Robert Schumann, Camille Saint-Saens, ...

Dover Publications, 1984

Great Concertos For The Cello
Three great cello concertos are included in this edition, with perhaps the Dvorak concerto being the best ever written for the instrument. Dover's edition is put together well. Clear printing, score lays flat, and once again, how can you beat the price? Recommended for anyone that loves these concertos and wants to learn more about them.

Symphony No. 3 ("Organ") (Dover Miniature Scores)2 reviews
Camille Saint-Saens

Dover Publications, 2004

Amazing score for an amazing piece
The full score for CSS's organ symphony is very well arranged, easy to read, and is of good quality. It is really a steal at that price and is good enough for review or study. I used it to transcribe the piece to another instrument. For an orchestra you would need to have the piece-wise score for each instrument which obviously costs much more, but this is a good alternative for simpler ...

Carnival of the Animals in Full Score
Camille Saint-Saens

Dover Publications, 1998

Saint-Saëns' best-known work consists of 14 pieces scored for flute/piccolo, clarinet, glass harmonica (tuned glass bowls), xylophone, two pianos, and strings. Playfully borrowing themes from other works — including his own — the composer paints delightful musical portraits of a lion, chickens, turtles, an elephant, kangaroos, and the immensely popular swan.
