Agatha's Feather Bed: Not Just Another Wild Goose Story8 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy

Topeka Bindery, 1994

One of a kind book
If everything comes from something, where do the feathers in a feather bed come from? This dilemma (or rather the dilemma of six naked geese) confronts Agatha as she snuggles down for the first time in her brand new feather bed. The geese whose feathers she's sleeping on are not happy with the current state of events, and tell Agatha so. Seeing the justice of the geese's complaints, Agatha makes ...

Martina the Beautiful Cockroach6 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy

Peachtree Publishers, 2008

Martina really is a beautiful cockroach.
Gorgeous artwork. This is basically a beauty-is-as-beauty-does story, but told with a light hand.

The Last Dance3 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy, Debrah Santini

Peachtree Publishers, 1995

a beautiful book
I have read this book repeatedly. It is beautifully written and beautifully illustrated. It also always makes me cry a little. The Last Dance is a good book on living life to the fullest. In our local library, they keep the book in a separated section from the other children's books, but I think that the children that could read it (or the ones with parents that would) could handle the ...

The Yellow Star: The Legend of King Christian X of Denmark15 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy

Peachtree Publishers, 2000

Beautiful Book
The Yellow Star is a beautifully told and illustrated story. The story is only a legend. Author Carmen Deedy writes about which portions of the story are in fact true in a small section at the end of the book. The language of the book and the illustrations are beautiful. Even though the story is based on a legend and not actual events, it is a beautiful tale of standing by each other ...

Secret Of Old Zeb2 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy

A theme of chasing one's dreams to the sea and stars
The Secret Of Old Zeb is a charming softcover children's picturebook written for children ages 6 to 10 and is about ten-year old Walter, a boy whose summer visit to his great aunt promises to be boring - until he befriends a mysterious old sailor neighbor with a Great Secret Project hidden in the depths of his cellar! Inviting, caricature-style color artwork by Michael P. White and a theme of ...

The Library Dragon15 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy

Peachtree Publishers, 1994

I love this book!
I love "The Library Dragon"!! Why? It is so clever in illustrations but more so in word play. There is a flip doll The Library Dragon Flip Doll that goes with this book to show the dual nature of both the dragon and the librarian. I am burning to explain! A dragon is hired by the principal to protect the library books. In order to do that, she gets rid of all the old books and replaces them ...

Growing Up Cuban in Decatur, Georgia8 reviews
Carmen Agra Deedy

Peachtree Publishers, 1995

I loved it.
The only thing better is seeing her live, and my only complaint is that it wasn't longer. She's wonderful to listen to.

Tree man1 review
Carmen Agra Deedy

Peachtree Publishers, 1993

Wonderful Book!
I just love this book! The illustrations are nice and the story is really cute. Our 5 year old loves this book! The story line is easy to understand and the confusion between Santa and the Tree-Man is ingenious! I wish the book said a little more about why the rainforest is loosing trees.... but either way, it is a fabulous children's' story! Very imaginative, easy to read and a delightful tale. ...

Carmen Agra Deedy delivers a deliciously inventive Cuban version of the beloved Martina folktale, complete with a dash of café cubano.
