Eureka!
This terrific tape really got my attention. Aha! Sensory integration dysfunction in a nutshell! So that's why some of my students fidget or tune out! They're not deliberately annaying me and their classmates; they're just trying to function and get through the day. I've already made numerous changes in my classroom since listening to the tape, with great results. Wish I'd learned about this ...

Excellent, excellent, excellent!
As a mother of a child who has SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), I thought that this book was fantastic. My son is 11, and I never really sat down to explain to him what was going on inside his body, and how he processed and integrated his senses. This was such a help, and he loved it. It was the first time that he was so engaged that he would turn to me and say "Mom, that is just like me." ...

Reader-friendly resource
Sensory integration is well worth understanding because it is estimated that 20% of all students in the U.S. are affected by sensory integration issues. There is little offered to teachers who might have to work with children whose ability to learn is often clouded by affects of stimuli. Carol Stock Kranowitz is the author of one of the best books on the topic called "The Out of Sync Child." ...

A must Have for Parents
This was one of the first books I bought when our sons were diagnosed with SI and PDD-NOS. I felt it was very informative and really helped me understand exactly ehat they are feeling and going through everyday. I think it is a good one (along with The Out Of Sync Child has fun) to have when you are starting up the SI road along with some others..I reccomend it.

from the author of The Out-of-Sync Child, this illustrated chapter book is geared for eight-to-twelve-olds to help them understand how their senses develop. A screening
I was disappointed by this book as it is primarily checklists for my teachers to fill out. I'm sure I'll come up with a good use for it. It also has some good basic descriptions of each sensory system and how to explain them to teachers but I'm a bit passed that. I was hoping for more of an assessment than a screening, must have missed that in the description. It would be a good tool to have if ...
