At Home with Art : How Art Lovers Live with and Care for Their Treasures3 reviews
Estelle Ellis, Christopher Simon Sykes, ...

Clarkson Potter, 1999

A unique and personal view of collecting
This is an extraordinary book. Clearly not intended as a scholarly exercise, the authors take us up close and personal with outstanding collectors and their art. These are people I would be unlikely ever to meet, and their personal views and how they are expressed through the works they surround themselves with provide a glimpse into the collecting mind. Many of the homes are wealthy, though ...

At Home with Books : How Book Lovers Live with & Care for their Libraries1 review
Christopher S. (editor); Seebohm, Caroline (editor); Ellis, Estelle (editor) Sykes

Crown Publishing Group, 1995

Ecstasy
Finally the marriage of beautiful picture with sensible advice. "At Home with Books" has a little something for all book lovers and library owners. At first it feels like voyeurism as you rummage through the exquisite pictures of personal libraries. They did not even bother to pick up the clutter. You can not help but relate to the difficulties of where to place books. Later you are given ...

Caroline Seebohm

Random House Value Publishing, 1997

Pls have the publisher reprint this book asap.
An excellent guide to the english country style tradition. It stands out in a field that is already crowded with good works, and at this point is to be considerer a classic.

No Regrets2 reviews
Caroline Seebohm

Simon & Schuster,, 1997

An interesting woman
This well written book sheds light on the many aspects of a complex woman. The contrast between her somewhat puritanical streak - a result of her upbringing in the famous Peabody family - and her enjoyment of the high life is riveting. In the end the reader finds her to be likable but not without fault.

Boca Rococo: How Addison Mizner Invented Florida's Gold Coast1 review
Caroline Seebohm

Clarkson Potter, 2001

A great read...
I found myself always wanting more of this book. The author has done a great job presenting the life of Addison Mizner. The starting point is interesting. Caroline Seebohm discovered a cache of records from the architect's office. What she failed to mention and may not know is that these records were split sometime after the death of Addison so there is another book to be written!

Valentine's gift for husband
My husband is an English professor and our house is filled with books. I read about this one in the Chronicle of Higher Education and knew he would love it. We always try to purchase unusual Valentine's gifts, so it seemed a perfect time to add it to our collection. He loves the book and has taken it to work to share with colleagues.

English Country: Living in England's Private Houses1 review
Caroline and Christopher Simon Sykes Seebohm

Clarkson N. Potter, 1987

I am reviewing 1987 hardcover by Caroline Seebohm & Christopher Simon Sykes
Seebohm is the author of two "English Country" books, and I infer at least one used-book purchaser on Amazon didn't receive what he thought he was buying. I wanted, and received, a hardcover with dust jacket, entitled "English Country, Living in England's Private Houses", by Caroline Seebohm and Christopher Simon Sykes, pub by Clarkson Potter in 1987, measuring approx 10.25" H x 10.25" W x 1.0" ...

Cottages and Mansions of the Jersey Shore1 review
Caroline Seebohm

Rivergate Books, 2007

Cottages and Mansions of the Jersey Shore
The text is very interesting and informative. The only thing that I would add is more victorian homes from Cape May. This makes a nice coffee table book.

No Regrets the live of Marietta Tree1 review
Caroline Seebohm

Schuster, 1997

What a waste
This book seems more like a work of fiction or a docudrama than a biography. The author talks about her subjects emotions in a factual manner- emotions that the author couldn't possibly pretend to know or actually confirm. This is the worst kind of biography and the family is probably sick about their cooperation. They couldn't possibly have realized what a hatchet job this book would be.
