Ryrie Study Bible/New American Standard/Red Letter Indexed Bonded Black Leather13 reviews

Moody Publishers, 1995

One of the best study Bibles.
I bought my first Ryrie Study Bible, New American Standard version, in 1979. I took it through Bible college, seminary, and have used it for reading and for my Biblical studies until now, it is worn and tattered. During the last 26 years I have bought many other study Bibles but I keep coming back to Ryrie. So I just bought the Ryrie Study Bible/New American Standard/Red Letter Indexed ...

Basic Theology7 reviews
Charles C. Ryrie

Victor Books, 1986

Unique exposition of the Doctrine of Certainty.
The disctinct value of the book is that it delivers the simple language exposition of the one of the most fundamental Biblical doctrines, namely ASSURANCE OF SALVATION. The author devotes a separate chapter to this topic, however all the rest of the book, while presenting the Basics of Christian Biblical Theology, builds towards this great Truth, formulates solid logical and doctrinal fundaments ...

So Great Salvation: What It Means to Believe in Jesus Christ16 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1997

Grace- it's too easy for some
This book has literally saved my life. The freedom which Christ preached has been perverted for centuries by men who self righteously portray themselves as judges of mens souls instead of their actions alone. Certainly I can judge a mans deeds- but his soul is not my domain. Where he or she came from and the fruit they display in their lives is not mine to make SOUL judgements of- I may doubt ...

Basic Theology: A Popular Systematic Guide to Understanding Biblical Truth22 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1999

"Basically" Sticks to the Plain Written Word
Dr. Ryrie's "Popular Systematic Guide to Understanding Biblical Truth" is indeed one of best "basic" theology handbooks available. It is systematic, but it remains faithful to the Bible--this just goes to show that "systematic" and "biblical" are not necessarily at odds with each other as in some systems. Ryrie's work is "basic" in that it devotes over 600 pages to the main areas of theology. ...

A Survey of Bible Doctrine6 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1989

Best short survery Systematic Theology available. Better than Grudem or Packer.
I had to chuckle a bit at a suggestion that Grudem's Theology was better than Ryrie's Survey book. First, Ryrie's is only 192 pages, Grudem's work is massive. So, you need to compare apples to apples. Packer's work (whom I think does a nice job indeed), is a better comparison. If you know you are a Grudem fan, then, yes, you may not like Ryrie's more biblical theology. Grudem who is ...

Ryrie Study Bible NAS Hardback- Red Letter (Ryrie Study Bibles)41 reviews

Moody Publishers, 1995

Back to the Bible...
The updated NASB version is highly recommended as the most literal and accurate Bible translation available today. Along with that, Dr. Ryrie's study notes are excellent and quite extensive without being overwhelming. The combination makes an excellent study Bible. The expanded tables, outlines, introductions, and study notes give the serious or aspiring student of the Word added and accurate ...

Dispensationalism30 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 2007

Biblical & Well Worth the Wait!
Thanks to C.C. Ryrie for setting the record straight on normative dispensationalism in his 2007 Revised and Expanded edition! His study is first, and above all, biblical, all the while remaining scholarly, lucid, and irenic. At the same time, he also sets forth the many problems that continue to plague all forms of covenant theology, and "progressive" & ultra dispensationalism. I admire the plea ...

Object Lessons: 100 Lessons from Everyday Life2 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1991

Ryrie uses practical everyday things to teach truth.
Mr. Ryrie's book is practical, has variety, is based on scriptural truth, is easy to adapt to your cultural situation, and helps teach more clearly, dificult to explain, christian life truths. It is easy to read and easy to use.

The Holy Spirit2 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1997

A Classic Work on the Holy Spirit
This brief work on the Holy Spirit is excellent both in its content and clarity. Though the obvious may turn some people off to this work (Ryrie's a Cessationist), his stance is gracious and charitable. Ryrie does a wonderful job tracing the historically Christian view of the Holy Spirit (in His Person/Deity) and an even better job explaining His work in the Body of Christ. Though I will not ...

Revelation- Bible Commentary (Everymans Bible Commentaries)2 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1996

Scholarly Without Being Overwhelming....
Ryrie, perhaps best known for the Ryrie Study Bible, has here written a verse-by-verse Revelation commentary noteworthy for being sufficiently detailed and scripturally sound without being too overwhelming for the average layperson. For readers with a mindset to study but little or no background in Revelation, I recommend this solid commentary. Also, this updated edition has quite a few helpful ...

Ryrie's Practical Guide to Communicating Bible Doctrine1 review
Charles Ryrie

B&H Publishing Group, 2005

Concise and Excellent
This is an excellent short book on teaching and preaching doctrine. It could serve as a helpful introduction for those new to teaching the Bible or as an equally helpful refresher for experienced preachers. It really is that good -- and I write as one who is reasonably familiar with books on preaching. Also, like all solid books on preaching and teaching the Bible, this one shows a high regard ...

Balancing the Christian Life4 reviews
Charles Ryrie

Moody Publishers, 1994

well balanced
Dr. Ryrie, a careful, seasoned theologian, was written this book in a warm, personable, devotional style that lends itself well to readers who are being introduced to theological study. I have found his chapters "Money and the Love of God"(8), and "Temptation"(13) to be particularly helpful to the 15-25 crowd. His chapter on dedication (7) has been useful to a wide range of readers. When ...

Ryrie Study Bible NIV Hardback- Red Letter (Ryrie Study Bibles)8 reviews

Moody Publishers, 1994

Best study bible
I have used this study bible since it originally came out in the 70's when I was first saved. I cut my spiritual teeth with this bible, and it never lead me astray. I think this is the most doctrinely sound, best annotated study bible around. There are a lot of notes, but not excessively so, and they bring greater understanding to the text. There is an abundance of maps, diagrams, some lists, ...

Come Quickly, Lord Jesus: What You Need to Know About the Raputure1 review
Charles C. Ryrie

Harvest House Pub, 1996

Worthy Reading
Written by a truly fine scholar, this book will give the reader a basic understanding of the pretribulation rapture point of view. Of particular interest is the inclusion of information about the origin of the pre-trib view from someone within the pre-trib camp itself, and not from an outsider. Much of the material focuses on arguments against a post-trib rapture. At times though, I was not ...
