First Light2 reviews
Joe Cornish

Argentum, 2002

Beautiful and inspiring
Joe Cornish is a well-known landscape photographer, and here he presents a collection of stunning photographs, along with a brief writeup about how he created them. He also includes a similar photograph that he feels was a failure, and explains why to go along with each successful photograph. Most of these less than successful photographs are of the same subject as the main photograph on each ...

The Making of Landscape Photographs: A Practical Guide to the Art and Techniques10 reviews
Charlie Waite

Anova Books, 1993

An Excellent Resource
This book has helped me immeasurably in deciding how to take certain photographs. His advice on the use of light and framing of the photographs is excellent. If you've been seriously into landscapes for a while, this probably won't have anything new for you aside maybe from some inspiration. If you are just starting out or unsure of your work in anyway, this book is a great reference. Either way, ...

Charlie Waite

What every Photo book should aspire to be
I like this book. More so for the layout. Its clean design and great inspiration for what a persona portfolio and photo book I create should aspire to be.

Working the Light: A Photography Masterclass (Light & Land series)8 reviews
Eddie Ephraums, Joe Cornish, ...

Aurum Press, 2006

Inspiring Photography and Instruction
As a previous reviewer mentioned, it's intimidating to see such incredible photography, especially if you're an aspiring photographer (as I am). However, I find the beauty of the photography here to be inspirational, and the critiques provided are very informative. I highly recommend reading this book if you're an aspiring nature photographer.

Developing Vision & Style: A Landscape Photography Masterclass (Light & Land series)5 reviews
Charlie Waite, Joe Cornish, ...

Aurum Press, 2008

Great book for photographers looking to create better images
This book, Developing Vision and Style, as with a former book in the series, Working the Light, provide guidance on producing great photographs. There is no discussion of how to operate your camera, or which filter to use, just good images with interesting insights. This book is soemwhat different in format, as individual critiques by the authors is not present, as in the former book, but ...

Seeing Landscapes: The Creative Process Behind Great Photographs6 reviews
Charlie Waite

Watson-Guptill Publications, 1999

Get this one!
This book is a gem. I was about to ignore this book when browsing through Amazon.com myself (it drowns in mediocre books), but I took a chance on this one. I'm glad I did. Soon after I got this one, I just had to get Waite's other book; "The Making of Landscape Photographs". In my collection of photography books, these two are by far the best, both in text and photograpy. Unlike many ...

In My Mind's Eye: Seeing in Black and White2 reviews
Charlie Waite

Photographers' Institute Press, 2006

Great photos from a master
Charlie Waite's black and white photographs are every bit as good as his colour work. I particularly appreciate his infrared work shown in this book. Although I am a digital photographer now and this book features only film based pictures, it is very educational just to look and absorb Charlie Waite's images. Well worth the price. Highly recommended (by me!)

Photographing Flowers: Inspiration Equipment Technique3 reviews
Sue Bishop

Photographers' Institute Press, 2004

Her Flower Photography is Art
Not only is this book beautifully visual to look at, it is full of information and ideas. Though it's not for digital cameras per se but for 35mm instead. Photography is subjective and you can use the information to make you a better photographer. The same information about technique, philosophy, etc. can be used when you shoot with your digital camera. Many digital cameras have similar functions ...
