Saint-Germain Memoirs5 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Elder Signs Press, 2008

St Germaine Memoirs
For fans of St Germaine, this book provides the back story to a number of his adventures, and for those who aren't familiar with his story, it provides a nice entry point to the series. While it's more a companion piece than a stand alone, it was a great read.

Blood Games (Saint Germain)11 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Aspect, 2004

Outstanding historical fiction with an added measure of the supernatural!
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's extremely civilized, debonair vampire protagonist Comte de Saint-Germain appears in "Blood Games" as Ragoczy Sanct' Germain Franciscus, an import/shipping magnate living in the Rome of Emperor Nero. As a matter of fact, the year before this story begins, in 64 AD, a mammoth fire raged through Rome for nine days, destroying two-thirds of the city. Although Nero was at the ...

The Palace13 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Grand Central Publishing, 2003

Historical fiction at its best - featuring a Renaissance vampire, no less!
"The Palace" is first and foremost a novel of historical fiction about the Renaissance in Florence, or as it was called in the fifteenth century, the Repubblica of Fiorenza. The rebirth of the arts, science, politics and economics which was occurring throughout most of Europe at this time, first occurred in this Tuscan city and continued to be more pervasive here than anywhere else. Fiorenza's ...

A Dangerous Climate: A Novel of the Count Saint-Germain (St. Germain)5 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Tor Books, 2008

One of the best in the series to date
*A Dangerous Climate* is the twentieth novel centering on Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's benign vampire hero, Count Ferenz Ragoczy Saint-Germain. I've been a fan of Yarbro's Count for thirty years, and this is one of my favorite of the novels so far. The foundation of every Saint-Germain novel is a vivid and meticulously researched portrait of one or more times and places in world history, often one ...

Seven Seasons of Buffy: Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Discuss Their Favorite Television Show (Smart Pop ...23 reviews

Benbella Books, 2003

A great re-read
I re-read "Seven Seasons of Buffy" in a lull between book deliveries and enjoyed it about as much as last time. It's a collection of essays by sci-fi writers on what was definitely one of the best series on TV IMHO. It leans a little heavy on romance and "who's Buffy's ideal man", but is a very good read overall. Intelligent writers, good content. If you liked Buffy you'll love this.

Crown Of Empire (Crisis of Empire IV)1 review
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Baen, 1994

End of the Empire
This is touted as the 'climax to the Crisis in Empire trilogy' - it is not written at the same level as the preceding three. It is a bit dis-jointed in the first few chapters and is written with a very 'liberal' slant on the future of the Pact. If you enjoyed Drake's three volumes, skip this one.

Strangers in the Night
Maggie Shayne has a rare gift for turning words into gold. Strangers in the Night, is perfect for someone who enjoys romance with an exciting mix of twists, turns and events. This story is an interesting combination of romance, suspence and the supernatural which has the right combination to appeal to numerous types of readers.

Mansions of Darkness: A Novel of the Count Saint-Germain (St. Germain)6 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Tor Books, 1997

A well-paced must-read with something to please everyone!
Alright, I have to admit it, if a vampire is in a book, I simply must read the book. I've read all sorts of vampire-literature -- from books with grammatical errors and no plot to speak of to, well, Yarbro's novels. Yarbro's novels are top-notch and although classified as "horror," the horror actually stems from our realization that a vampire could have more humanity within him than most ...

Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Berkley Trade, 1995

even with more light, you still have to perform
If you haven't read the first two books in this series, and are concerned about some of the negative reviews here, you should be. Only because this book will ignite any dormat behavior your current environment is surpressing and force you to make decisions. Even the most "successful" people in the world will have parts of them awaken by reading these books. I would like to know why the negative ...

Messages from Michael7 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Writers.com Books, 2005

Quite Interesting!
"Messages From Michael" provides an interesting look at soul evolution. It's described from the "viewpoint" of an entity known as "Michael", who has apparently already been through much of this evolution itself & had come through to share its' knowledge. One of the things that really drew me into this book is that it's stated over & over again that belief is not required, and that this ...

Borne in Blood: A Novel of the Count Saint-Germain (St. Germain)9 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Tor Books, 2008

It's nice to catch up with an old friend
Borne in Blood is Chelsea Quinn Yarbro's 20th entry in her Saint Germain series. I've been reading the counts adventures from the beginning. At this point it feel like I'm catching up with an old friend. Her meticulous attention to detail really helps to visualize the time period of the book. Borne in Blood takes place right after the end of the Napoleonic wars. Saint-Germain has taken as a ...

Better in the Dark: A Novel of Count Saint-Germain14 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Orb Books, 1995

Grabs you by the throat before you know what's happened
Don't let the title, or the awful cover (Who *are* these people? They certainly aren't the characters in the book!), nor the fact that it's a "vampire" novel put you off. This is, quite simply, one of the most enjoyable books I've read this year. Well drawn characters, atmosphere you could cut with a knife, a richly detailed plot, coupled with one of the strongest female leads I've ever ...

Communion Blood: A Novel of Saint-Germain12 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Tor Books, 2000

darkness that is not so dark
I have followed Saint-Germain now for over 15 years. I fell in love with the vampire and the historical settings and people that Yarbro placed her vampire in and around. For a while there Saint-Germain was silent, and when the novels once again started coming forth, I was extremely happy. Unfortunately, the stories and situations that were written about were so extremely dark and depressing ...

Midnight Harvest (The chronicles of Saint-Germain)11 reviews
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Aspect, 2005

Saint-Germain Comes to US
Midnight Harvest, while not as much of an edge-of-seat read as might be a few of the previous books, manages to introduce new connections, resolutions and laying bare of some previously met plots, settings, mysteries and people. Running for his life, as usual, Saint-Germain leaves eve-of-Civil War Spain and makes his way across to America and on to San Francisco. Reuniting with a previous ...

The Saint - Germain Chronicles1 review
Chelsea Quinn Yarbro

Pocket Timescape Books, 1983

Love that Vamp!
The stories are fabulous! Ranging in time & showing glimpses of many of Yarbor's characters. If you have never read any of Ms. Yarbro's books this is the perfect start. Starting with The Spider Glass, a personal favorite, Edwardian time interspersed with letters both to and from the Count, ending with Cabin 33 and a look at the "real" Comte de Saint-Germain Essay. The stories are varying lengths ...
