An eye-opening book!
This book challenges all that you thought you learned about parenting from your childhood. In my constant research on parenting (I have a precocious two year old), I found that this book hit upon many of the issues I have been struggling with. It emphasizes how short-term fixes can create long-term problems. It demonstrates how things that parents do out of love for their children can hurt them ...

Finally, a How-To Guide for Raising Boys!
A very enjoyable and informative read: The writing is light and witty, filled with anecdotes and nuggets of wisdom. As I read, I found myself smiling more than once as I recognized my boys -- or myself! I came away with a better understanding of boys and new, useful strategies for mothering my boys. And more compassion and pride for us moms.

Not what I expected
I had truly been looking forward to this book. After hearing so much about Jane Nelson and being in recovery, it sounded appropriate. Honestly, I didn't read past the first two or three chapters; the book seems to have been written for someone either still abusing alcohol or drugs - or someone who is just now in the beginning stages of recovery. . . and that's not where I am in my life. I will ...

Excellent for beginning daycares
I was looking for a book that would help me come up with ideas for daycare. I was tired of time-out and I hated the fact that I followed the same routine day after day. This book allowed me to shake it up a little. Allowed me to get a better insight of what daycare should be about and reminded me how important these little ones are. Highly recommended for people starting up daycares!

Perfect book for me!
I would recommend this book to any mother who would like to take a second look at discipline methods. The spanking, slapping, and pinching didn't make sense to me, and I didn't feel right doing it, but I didn't know how else to discipline. This book shows you how to discipline positively without all the hitting and yelling and bad feelings and attitudes. It is already working with my two year ...

Raising Twin Sons
It was suggested that my husband and I read this book by our family counselor. My initial thoughts were, "Hey, every kid is different. What is a book going to tell me about my individual children," but as I read it, I found DOZENS of correlations between my two very different identical twin sons and the general findings in her research, which weren't very general at all, they were very detailed ...

Perfect helper when you need it most!
Our daughter has just turned three and wow, what happened? We feel like we have tried everything for discipline from time out to consequences and even the "S" word. Nothing really works. My friend recommended this book and it really does help. It's not the end all and be all of all books but it reminds you to think on their level and gives you good ideas for when you are faced with those very ...

"so true" situations
I picked this book off the library shelf to help me be a better stepmother. The more I read, the more it educated me on good and bad behavior between divorced parents and how they "mistreat" their childs relationship with the non-custodial parent(s). As is in my husband's case. If you have an ex-spouse and children, this book speaks the truth on how to act and not act.

Great book for stressed single moms!
I borrowed this book from the library and loved it so much that I decided I needed to make it a part of my own library at home. So many times as single parents we are stressed beyond belief by the world that we forget that it is just as hard on the children as well as ourselves. This book helps single parents to think through some of the traps of parenting that we fall into. It has had many ...

Buy it now!! Worth every penny! Best book for parenting besides the bible!
I have EVERY parenting book under the sun, and didn't plan on buying this one until I stumbled over it in a quaint Park City, Utah bookshop. This is the only great BIBLICALLY based book I have ever seen to guide Christian ( and all) parents in raising children WELL with out spanking ( there is scripture to back it up gals). I wish every pastor, and every family could own this book and read it- it ...
