A New look on the Old World
I was very impressed with the Seven Chuches, and couldn't wait to find out how this story was going to end. I like the writting style of having two first persons, the author pulls it off well. It contiunes to offer a new look on the ancient Roman Empire outside of Rome. It is a great book to read.

These Tennis Shoes Rock!
Tennis Shoes Among the Nephites A book by Chris Heimerdinger The Tennis Shoes series is originally about a boy who travels back in time to an ancient civilization called the Nephites (a people whose writings make the "Book of Mormon", which is a book the religious people called "Mormons" or the "L.D.S." people base their beliefs). Armed with modern gadgets, the boy, named Jim, his sister ...

Yup. It's fantastic allright.
Dang. This book has got to be one of the most imaginative things I've ever read. It is exciting, funny, scary, romantic--everything you need for a good read. The story is about a teenage boy named Eddie Fanta who is going through some troubles. He can't get over his grandfather's death or his parents' divorce, he's unpopular, he couldn't get a girl if his life depended on it. Most of all, ...

Tennis Shoes: The Golden Crown (Little Black Books (Coriolis))1 review
Chris Heimerdinger

Covenant Communications, 1999

Awesome!
I'm sorry to say that all the excitement and passion of the prior two novels ("The Sacred Quest" and "The Lost Scrolls") do not remain in this last one. Admittedly it's still one of the best books in LDS fiction, but I'm afraid that Heimerdinger manages to get a little hokey in his story telling, so much that it almost boarders on disturbing. This said, this is still the conclusion to one of ...

Tennis Shoes: The Sacred Quest1 review

Whoohoo! Biblical lands!
Apparently Chris Heimerdinger cannot stop writing these things. That's all right, because there is something altogether exciting and spiritual about this excursion to the Holy Lands back in the day. I love the even more advanced assortment of characters whom Heimerdinger gives more than plenty of personalities. The writing is snappy and the plot is quick and the homework has been done.

A Light In the Storm1 review
Chris Heimerdinger

Covenant Communications, 2000

A Light in the Storm
Heimerdinger goes in a different direction with this novel. While it is still suggestive of a fantasy, this is a deeply individual story of one man's views on his life and his family when he becomes snow-bound in his car. The writing and descriptions are breath-taking, and Ben Wylie goes through various "revelations" that may or may not be real. I liked the personal depth and narrative that ...
