Tomart's Disneyana: Guide To Pin Trading14 reviews
Tom Tumbusch

Tomart Publications, 2005

Great book for Disney pin collectors
For the people who complained about the lack of index... how could anyone possibly index that many pins. The index would be as long as the book is. The table of contents is perfectly adequate for narrowing down the page. After that the hunt for the pin is half the fun.

Reading Scripture With the Church Fathers7 reviews
Christopher A. Hall

InterVarsity Press, 1998

Good book to start with for laypersons
Christopher A. Hall has written a interesting introduction to the church fathers which is exactly what I was seeking. I can recommend this to anyone since it is easy to read, concise and well written. It is my first reading on the church fathers and am continuing with Learning Theology with the Church Fathers. I just hope he continues the series with the planned, "Praying with the Church Fathers."

Ancient & Postmodern Christianity: Paleo-Orthodoxy in the 21st Century--Essays In Honor of Thomas C. Oden4 reviews

InterVarsity Press, 2002

The most interesting book I've read this year
Ancient & Postmodern Christianity: Paleo-Orthodoxy in the 21st Century is a collection of writers from various traditions within Christianity who are using Thomas Oden's theological method to rediscover aspects within the history of orthodoxy that have been neglected or over-played. Postmodernity, in Oden's meaning, is simply that historical formation that will follow the era of modernity which ...

Like a Family: The Making of a Southern Cotton Mill World (The Fred W. Morrison Series in Southern Studies)2 reviews
Jacquelyn Dowd Hall, James Leloudis, ...

The University of North Carolina Press, 2000

Captures a lost era
Like a Family interestingly and accurately portrays life in southern cotton mills and mill towns in the central southeast, primarily North Carolina. The book examines family, work and community life; it is a social, cultural and political history. Working in the mills was harsh, dangerous and monotonous. Most employees left farms and a rural way of life to toil in the mills; for these people ...

Mark (The Ancient Christian Commentary on Scripture)5 reviews

InterVarsity Press, 2005

A commentary full of wisdom, not just knowledge
This first book in a series of commentary on the scriptures is highly recommended. Many modern commentaries are concerned with historical background, sources, etc., which are useful in their way, but once you get past that and want to just dwell on what it means spiritually, this is a great way to do it. This book includes the text of the gospel of Mark in short sections, so you don't have ...

Wellington's Navy: Sea Power and the Peninsular War 1807-18143 reviews
Christopher D Hall

Greenhill Books, 2006

A Study of Often Neglected Naval Operations
Christopher Hall's "Wellington's Navy: Sea Power and the Peninsular War, 1807-1814" is not a story of great fleet actions or dramatic single-ship frigate actions. Although the Royal Navy forces operating on the coasts of Portugal and Spain in this period engaged from time to time in blockading French-occupied ports or conducting cutting out expeditions, more often it was a long war of convoys ...

Steel Phoenix: The Fall and Rise of the U.S. Steel Industry
Christopher L. G. Hall

Palgrave Macmillan, 1997

Steel Phoenix: The Fall and Rise of the U.S. Steel Industry is a remarkable story. Christopher Hall recounts the great downfall of "Big Steel" in America and the emergence of a new, reinvented steel industry from the ashes of the old. The Trinity (Guides to Theology)2 reviews
Roger E. Olson, Christopher A. Hall

Wm. B. Eerdmans Publishing Company, 2002

Great historical diagram of the development of doctrine
A must read for anyone remotely interested in the Trinity. Easy to read but not simple. In this work, Olson starts from the beginning of the Trinitarian debates and leads you through an amazing ride through history as new thoughts on this essential doctrine develop. One of the things that is made evident is that what we have now is trully a develpment of doctrine, the Trinity is not something ...

Does God Have a Future?: A Debate on Divine Providence2 reviews
Christopher A. Hall, John Sanders

Baker Academic, 2003

A Future for Openness...
"In essence, in our letters we have tried to embody in our dialogue the prophet Micah's admonition that the Lord requires us to treat each other justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly wt ur God (6:8)." (p. 200) This is exactly what one finds in this book. Two scholars, Chris Hall (Eastern University) and John Sanders (Huntington College) discuss issues surrounding the nature of God and his ...

Rise And Demise: Comparing World Systems (New Perspectives in Sociology)1 review
Christopher Chase-dunn, Thomas D Hall

Westview Press, 1997

Don not buy this junk
Total waste of money. This guy may write a lot but it doesn't mean he ever got out of the hamster wheel. However, the idiot professor's teaching world-systems, and they are all idiots, because the whole topic should be trashed, as the theory was destroyed by Brenner and Skocpol in 1977, yet they go on. So the institutions that teach this manure and the many "scholars" who try to make sense of it, ...
