Urban wilderness: A guidebook to resourceful city living1 review
Christopher Nyerges

Peace Press, 1979

Great text for an Urban Ecologist!
Finally a book written for those who want a more simplistic, green and waste-minimizing lifestyle in the city. Great illustrations highlight information about household ecology, city gardening techniques, wild edible city plants, aluminum poisoning, garlic, bicycles and a very timely chapter on city survival (think natural disaster, not govt. overthrow. Guide to Wild Foods and Useful Plants2 reviews
Christopher Nyerges

Chicago Review Press, 1999

A great companion book...
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Nyerges's book is weak on its photos and plant identification but is excellent as a companion book to all those boring plant ID texts. His book provides excellent background and practical information from someone who has actually used these plants. While geared for California, many of the plants are found across the U.S. especially in the West.

How to Survive Anywhere: A Guide for Urban, Suburban, Rural, And Wilderness Environments7 reviews
Christopher Nyerges

Stackpole Books, 2006

This is a valuable book
There are a great many books on survival in all manner of settings, but I've not seen one that attempts the scope of this one. I found his style straightforward and engaging, and the material very helpful. I can't emphasize enough how much ground this book covers. No single book will be the comprehensive manual for all scenarios, and Nyerges doesn't attempt that. What he does, and well in ...
