Another brillant and imaginative work by Christopher Rowley. Part of a series of novels based on the unique planet of Fenrille inhabited now by the Fein and humans. This novel provides a unique and involved view of the complex nature of a diverse and alternative culture and enviroment. A mixture of action, suspense, sci fi, The story of this novel revolves around the corrupt nature of earth's ...

Vang returns!
Genre of hardcore horror/SF is Rowley's strongest point, although others prefer BattleDragons books. The Battlemaster make you think about scale of Universe, about ancient wars between stars and planets whose distant echo now threaten Humanity by mortal danger. All because of the Vang, protoevil alien species, battle demigods once created huge space empire, but now dethroned and dispersed. ...

War For Eternity
This was definitely a book of action and excitement. From the battles in the Fundan territory to the covert actions on the Sx Coast. This book pitted the "simple" inhabitant of Fenrille's against the controlling power of a space general from Earth with dictatorship ideas. However things were not as "simple" as they appeared. There was always something hidden just waiting to be discovered. ...

Superb
This was the first book I got in the Bazil Broketail series - and I was enthralled. Of course, I had to skip the first chapter to get past the boring story of Thrembode in Padmasa, but after reading this book, I was firmly hooked. I own every book in this series and have worn 2 sets of them out and I'm working on my third now. I could say that I've read each book approximately 100 times each - ...

An Unknown Classic
I love this book, this book is singlehandedly the one thing that made me such an avid reader. This book is a very original piece centering around a sword wielding dragon and his dragon boy. If you read this book expecting the dragon to be an intelligent creature almost like a human, you might be sorely disappointed, but that is still no reason to put this book aside. It is a fresh new look on ...

An amazing novel with an original story and excellent plot.
WOW! I was hoping that this book would never end as I read it. This was truly the best book in the Bazil Broketail series and is one of the best books I have read from my second favorite author.(JRR Tolkien is my favorite). An excellent story with a tragic ending (until the next book), Battledragon was a very entertaining book.

The second book was good.
I read this book with vigor, that's usually something i dont do. After i read the first book Bazil Broketail, i couldnt put this one down. The story didnt skip anything. when i started reading it it felt like i wasnt reading a new book. Plus i was also surprised by some characters that were there and, was glad to hear of new ones. although i thought the first book was better. this one is right ...

All time favourite
I first read this book many years ago after purchasing it along with a bunch of others at a secondhand book stall. I've read it many times since and never get tired of doing so. Just a sensational story that deserves to be made into a blockbuster of a film. If you love sci fi and haven't read this book yet then do so without any delay. It doesn't matter if you have to beg, borrow or steal the ...

Excellent Myth, excellent Bildungsroman for the young reader
Well first I think it is plain cheeky to critique a novel if one has yet to write one - not to mention write one succesfully. I notice other reviewers do not suffer from this compunction. Anyway, what a wonderful story. It teaches (without a hint of didactism - the bane of wannabe fantasy novelists) all of the key elements that will shape a Hero and that are so lacking in our X-generation. ...

Founder...An Intro to the Universe
I found that 'The Founder' was an excellent intro to the series that followed, namely; The War For Eternity, The Black Ship, The Starhammer, The Vang: The Military Form, The Vang: The Battlemaster, although I believe it was written as an afterthought. All in all, The Founder introduced me to a universe that was natural in course to our own but with some very unique plot twists and some very real ...

The thrilling conclusion to a magnificent fantasy trilogy
Christopher Rowley's Books of Arna number among the best works of fantasy I have ever read; these are books full of rich characterization, vibrant personalities, great evil, even greater heroism, stunning military conflicts, love, hope, redemption - the list goes on and on. Doom's Break: The Third Book of Arna takes the series to a stratospheric new level, as readers witness the long-awaited ...

The best book I have ever read
I really enjoyed reading this book, but there was only one problem with it. That is, I'm willing to bet you wont enjoy it as much if you havent read the rest of his books in this series: Bazil Broketail, A Sword for a Dragon, Dragons of War, Battledragon, A Dragon at Worlds End, and finally Dragons of Argonath. You should definately get this incredible series.

Hauntingly Beautiful
I first read this book many years ago and have read the entire novel 3 times, which is very rare in my reading habits. I am a fan of horror scifi and military scifi, and The Vang delivers on both. It has been at least 10 years since I last read it, but images and ideas from the book still remain, and I often wonder why I can't seem to find more recently published works that measure up to this ...

Compensation for the loss of Bazil Broketail
I was quite unhappy when I found out that the last chapter of Bazil Broketail had been told. Indeed, I have quite the mind to re-read that series again -- I tried to before, but I went through one of those episodes where you lose the book and have forgotten about it by the time you find it again. Though I was saddened, I swiftly forgave Christopher Rowley and grabbed his next book -- this. I ...

Where's the sequel?
I've been a big admirer of Rowley since I bought The War for Eternity. Original, believable, well-written. Rowley seems to specialise in very human humans and very alien aliens, exciting and fast moving plots. I've re-read both The War for Eternity and The Black Ship more than a couple of times. I bought Golden Sunlands some time ago (years) and kept hold of it meaning to re-read it when the ...
