Amanda Bean's Amazing Dream: A Mathematical Story
This is one of a genre of books wherein the beauty and elegance of a mathematical concept is revealed to the main character in a dream (others notables inlude MATH CURSE by Jon Scieszka and THE NUMBER DEVIL by Hans Magnus Enzensberger). This book is a marvelous way to integrate literature with mathematics and I have found it useful to aid in the introduction of multiplication to students in my ...

Patterns in Peru: An Adventure in Patterning1 review
Cindy Neuschwander

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2007

Whimsical, educational adventure read.
Cindy Neuschwander's PATTERNS IN PERU: AN ADVENTURE IN PATTERNING tells of the Zills family, visiting Peru to study an ancient woven tunic that is connected to a mysterious lost city. Matt and Bini would love to find the Lost City, but they have their hands full when they're separated from their parents. Only an understanding of patterns and sequences can help them get back to their parents in ...

Great Way Of Sneaking In Math!
My daughter has always had a problem learning Math but reading this book (along with the others in this series) has helped her immensely! The books themselves are a bit young for her but the concepts in them (Pi, Geometry, etc) are explained in a way I think she needed. I would recommend these to anyone who has a child with problems in math concepts.

Fun and educational
My nine-year-old loved the earlier books in the Sir Cumference series, and was excited to hear that a new one was available. He enjoyed it thoroughly, for both the story and the math content. This series of books ranks near the top of his favorites list.

sir cumference series
I purchased the whole set for homeschooling purposes and it really drives home the concepts in a fun way with the kids not realizing they are learning geometry. This is as fun as Cyberchase in a book format. Highly recommend these!

Mummy Math: An Adventure in Geometry3 reviews
Cindy Neuschwander

Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), 2005

Lesson Kickoff!
I used this book for two separate lesson plans. I made a game board and added game cards based on the book. This quickly became an engaging way to count faces, vertices, and edges. I also used it in 7th grade social studies to add questions about history. BONUS: my 13 yr. old and 10 yr. old thought it was an engaging book!

Sir Cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland: A Math Adventure (Sir Cumference)6 reviews
Cindy Neuschwander

Charlesbridge Publishing, 2001

A great learning tool
I used this book to introduce the concept of angles to my class. They loved every bit of listening to this book and have kept the ideas of "mountains of obtuse" and "cute quaint" town when identifying angles.

Sir Cumference and the Dragon of Pi12 reviews

A wonderful way to remember pi
I feel the age range given on the website should not be ages 4-8. This is appropriate for 8 and up. That said, my 5 year old enjoys it as just a fairy tale and I would not attempt any "teaching" to him. He listens as I read it to my older daughters and maybe it will seep in so when he's old enough to begin measuring, he will easily grasp the concepts. This is a wonderful book - good ...

Scholastic, Inc., 2002

Sir Cumference, Lady Di Ameter, and their son Radius appear in three fun math adventures. In the first book, The Circumscribers might be preparing to make war on the kingdom of Sir Arthur. In this clever tale, the author weaves a description of basic mathematical shapes into an interesting plot that teaches important circle terms and concepts, such as: radius, diameter, area circuference and more. In the second book, a potion has changed Sir ...
